    = No rubbing.
For the record - my opinion, of this you may be sure, I may be wrong; nevertheless.

Scrubbing so you are cutting your sidewalls, there's nothing to argue about. That shit is f***ing stupid. Please, please if you are going to fit these extreme fitments, go the extra yard so it is legal and without serious compromises. It's not that hard - it probably wont cost you anywhere near as much as your wheels did.

I measured up guard clearances before I bought wheels. It's not rocket science, it's simple math. Some of the fitments mentioned here will not work legally, or without compromising the engineering, suspension etc. UNLESS you go the extra mile.

the above 235/40 fitment is pretty much the comfortable limit of tyre and wheel width. Anything beyond it, either in lower offset or wider rim or tyre, is going to have rub issues. 225/45 on them will have minor rub issues. remember offset rules - always lower, with a difference no greater than 12.5mm (Making +40 the minimum offset)

So for 8.5" rims, OR offsets +45 or lower there are a number of things you would need to look at. Rolling and flaring gaurds. Trimming the rear wheel well. Fitting wheel-arch mouldings (they do exist) so the wheel genuinely does not protrude from bodywork....shorter suspension travel, stiffer for obvious reasons, negative camber at rear...

Instead of pretending that fitments that need these things don't need them, wouldn't it be much more productive and far more interesting to discuss those things?

Now _this_ shit is ***ing stupid:

I running 245s on the front 19"/8" Rim. No scrubbing

I'm running Eibach springs and Koni Shocks though, so coilovers might be different

225/45 at +48 offset - I've just lowered 25mm and have a scrubbing spot at the rear. I'll need to remove the rear black plastic "mudgaurd" trim or take to it with a dremel.

I have mine trimmed in the inside plus rolled guards.

235/40/18 at +45 offset lowered on coilovers, no scrubbing regardless of how hard i corner.

Anyone got any opinions on a 235/40/19 on a 19x8.5 +42 (lowered springs, bk MPS 3)

I think it will be very close and might require a 225 but would really prefer 235 to protect the rim a bit more.

Did the rolled guards turn out ok? Would love to see some close up picks.
I raised mine 10mm this week all round as I was scrubbing the sides and the front top plastic guard as well. Mine did sit extremely low though. Much better now. No scrubbing and I can throw it in the corners heaps. Stance is not as aggresive but need to load the back up with the kids. As they get older and bigger more issues with rubbing so require more clearance.

235/35 or 225/40 R19 either should be fine. You'll definately be modding wheel well trim to avoid scrub...235/40R19 I think you'll find are too big a diameter but you might get them in there. 225/40 is certainly viable. I'd go 8" wide rim for that myself.

I had an OCD research and learning period pefore I purchased. The Enkei RPF1 I've got are also available in 19x8+48, and I seriously considered that with 225/40R19 being best tyre size.

For all the noise many people make about there extreme fitments not scrubbing, much of the time that simply isn't true. 8.5" wide rims, offsets lower than +45.... aren't good. 19" not so different to 18" - with the same rolling diameter and width the 19s will have a little less clearance than 18's due to the shape of the sidewall.

19x8+48 shod with 225/40R19 would be a great fit on nearly all fronts, but not much protection for your rim. 235/35 will afford your rim some protection.

    @Nexus

I've got the Enkei RPF1 in 19x8.5 +42 so from your research and the sound of things I'll be needing 225's and a roll all round?

Yes to guard rolling. Plenty of it. I don't know if Gen2 will need any wheel well trimming, but wouldn't be surprised.
I'd want to try 235 but at +42 offset, I don't think you'll manage it. At +48 offset, I think you could. I'm thinking 225, and be mindful of your rims getting damaged...

    Better buy that guard roller.....

My main concern is that not many 225s have the right load rating. Eg I wanted to run federal 595s - the 225s are 84s and the 235s are 91.
