    G'day Ryan.
If you go and see Rick, the service manager at Melville Mazda, he can give you a printout of required service items.
I have my car serviced there as my extended warranty requires dealership service.
If it weren't for the warranty I'd have it serviced by Zacka at Cypher Industries, O'Connor, or my local mechanic- Martin at Glen Forrest Caltex.
Hope to see you on a cruise soon.

    Pete.

hey, thanks for you reply Pete.
will Melville Mazda charge much more than other workshops for a minor service?
i usually serviced my ex-cars at my local mechanic as well. but for this one i'd prefer to go for some mazda specialists

when are you guys running a cruise?

    cheers,
    ryan

For a basic oil and filter change, plus visual check of components they probably will charge more than your local mechanic.
Sadly, that's the nature of dealer servicing. If you have no warranty to consider, then think about giving Zacka Chan at Cypher a call.
We are having track day at AHG in Forrestfield in November, along with the Rotary crew (the engine type, not the service club)

i use my trusted local mechanic, and i wouldnt touch the local mazda service dept with a 400 foot pole. bunch of thieving c*&ts. the dealer principal is a really top bloke, i know him personally, but his service manager is an arrogant ass. the parts dept lady is nice tho.

i use 10w-40 nulon fast flowing oil for turbos (full synth). best stuff ive ever come across for the mps. 10w is not going to sneak past worn MPS turbo seals as easy either. missus mazda 2 is getting nulon 5w-30 full synthetic for modern engines this time too.

thanks Ice, i think i should go for my local mechanic then.
i used to use cusco 5w-40 for my evo, but according to the mps 6 manual it recommended 5w-30..
does 10w-40 doing good with your mps? do you feel any different by using 10w-40? i'm still deciding between 10w-40 and 5w-40.

do you know what need to be changed or check in the 60,000kms service? i don't have the log book so not sure what need to be done..

    cheers

    G'day mate,

The MPS6 can run 5w-40, it's just a matter of preference and sometimes your current location which can be dependant on weather.

Consult your nearest dealer or the dealer you bought the car from or else if all else fails, I can scan the service schedule if you'd like.

With regards to dealer service, it's exactly how Pete put it, service departments gain their money from overpriced servicing. It's just how they're run, Mazda loses money from warranty work, therefore charge an arm and a leg for generic services.

I'd highly recommend Zack from Cypher Industries (9331 8488) as he's renowned for dealing with our vehicles. Any installations and diagnostics, even services can be done through him. Similarly, around the corner, you also have Xspeed (9337 3288) who have a decent reputation in dealing with performance vehicles.

Both are located in O'Connor if that's convenient for you.

    hi mate.
thanks for your advise and Pete's.
I'll give Zack a call next week and book a time for the service.

i brought the car from a private seller so won't be able to get any infos from him.
i'll really appreciate if you can scan the service schedules and send it over to my email :ryan-msn@msn.com
    thanks a lot

my mps6 is a higher milage car (118 000km) and the weather up here in NQ is bbq tastic. so i run 10-40 so it doesnt thin out as much. i actually felt a benefit in performance changing to the nulon 10-40 from the nasty castrol crap mazda (5w-30) put in when i bought the car.

    Welcome Ryan,

I've used Penrite 5W40 before and it was ok. Currently she's on Castrol Magnatec fully synthetic from mechanic service. Seems fine too. Zack is pretty flat out most of the time but he's a pretty cool guy and has done a fair bit of work on my car. I'll be due for 60,000km service. Not sure if I'll do it myself or just take it down to Zack. Have to check and see what is required for the 60. My girlfriends car is actually in his workshop at the moment. Basically every car he's touched keeps going back there for continual service. Yes, even my sisters Holden Astra after the halfwits at Brian Gardnier stuffed her car. She got it fixed and sold it as it was a P.O.S
