Ambient Temp Sensor Not Working....Maybe?

Has anyone ever had there AMB Temp show up "---" before?

I have had this the last few days and been completely confused since nothing has changed on the car, I figure if it was damaged or missing (which I have checked) it wouldn't show up anything as before I installed it (my car is a Neo) I know they don't go below a certain temp or above but highly doubt I have done either since it stays like this all day long.

Any solutions to this except for take it back to Mazda? Warranty is a magical land with fairies and unicorns that doesn't exist for me anymore so I would have to dish out another $40 for a new one if need be.

Could you run a volt/amp meter across it to test it I wonder

Sounds like a dud sensor.. Have you tried unplugging it and plugging it back in? Might be a possible dodgey connection, though i doubt it. Worth a try..
