Thread: Phillips Silver Vision Indicators

  1. #1

    Default Phillips Silver Vision Indicators

Although only small modification... it is my first. I would call myself a car enthusiast, I am not so mechanically minded

I purchased some Phillips Silver Vision indicator bulbs for the front of my car and for me it wasn't easy as I first thought
I have done the mod before on my previous vehicle (Nissan Pulsar SSS), but i guess newer cars have more in them and I found it difficult to change as I couldn't see where my hand was to the bulb!

I eventually did it and I did find the passenger side 10x easier.
    1. I had already done the drivers side and
    2. There seems to be more room on that side.

I also found jacking up the car made it a bit roomier

These look interesting. Do you have a shot of it turned on at night so I can see the difference ? How are these different to a standard indicator bulb ?

    Yes, I have a 09 3 MPS Luxury (BL)

I just google "Phillips Silver Vision" and went to the Phillips website

I picked them up at AutoBarn for $45

They look like the standard bulb but have a silver tint on them so you can't see them in the headlight compartment. They shine the standard orange colour

They look good don't they. And they're long lasting, mine are maybe 18months now. No difference in colour, as they're ADR approved. But nice how they disappear in the reflector lenses.

They are Philips Silver Vision indicator bulbs WY21W

I have seen some GenII MPS' that have an orange bezelling around the blinker, but mine is clear. Is this a Luxury fitted option?

If so and you have the orange bezel you would have to work out how to remove it or replace it. It may have a clear bulb instead of one that shines orange

The orange bezel is the non-luxury model.

Mmm. No point changing the bulb if the bezel is still orange? Any idea if it can be remove or replaced?

    Any aftermarket items?

You'd have to open up the headlight to do anything to it.

Can be done but it's tedious and tricky for most to be bothered.

If you don't put it back together for a perfect seal and water gets into the headlight, Mazda won't replace it under warranty, and they're quite expensive to replace out of your own pocket

Not sure if this came up, but this guy went a bit nuts to get a TOTALLY black car. But he did YOUTUBE a vid on how to open GENII headlights in an oven.

Stuff that, if a "out of the factory" standard headlight can leak (ask Charlie B or Br...Simon).

I did that when I had my Nissan Pulsar SSS. Melted one of them and had to pay $75 to Nissan for another one. Can't even imagine what Mazda would charge. Very messy with silicon everywhere and the mirror finish was a bit scratched

Long story short, had an accident 2 months later and it all went back to standard!!!

I just had my right headlamp replaced after someone ran into it, anyway the luxury model headlamps were over $1000 Think it was like $1380 or something... Simon would know too.. Wouldn't wanna break one of these puppies..
