Default Eibach Prokit query with differing part numbers

    Hi guys,

Didn't want to start a brand spanking new thread but I did a search looking for a topic regarding differing part numbers and couldn't find one. So here goes.

I ordered some Mazdaspeed 6 Eibach Pro Kit springs from a reputed (by rating) ebay seller from the USA and received them today. The box had the correct Pro Kit Part number which is 5543.140 but the individual springs have a different part number on them.

Now this is the first time I've bought anything for my car online, and in the past I've always just gone into the shop and they've lowered it without me inspecting the springs before hand which is as per normal. Hence now I'm feeling a little anxious as I'm getting them installed on Thursday morning and don't want to find out that they are the wrong part numbers.

Two of the springs have 5543.002 and the other two have 5548.001 . Hence I am hoping that the kit part number of 5543.140 is for the complete set whilst the the individual part numbers are front and rear. Am I correct or am I screwed and have to send this all back? Apologies in advance for being a noob

Should be right if it's all come in the box with the correct part number, I checked the Eibach site and they don't list the individual part number stampings for the Mazdaspeed 6 Pro Kit springs (which are part number 5543140 as you have) but do for the Europe/Asia 6 MPS which are:

    Model:2.3 MPS TURBO
    Year: 03.2005 -
    Part No: E10-55-004-04-22
    Front Stamping: F11-55-004-03-VA
    Rear Stamping: F11-55-004-02-HA

From what I could see on the Eibach site the 5548.001 could be part of kit 5548140 which is listed for the US market 6cyl Wagon. Maybe email the seller and confirm with them that you have the right bits, or do a Google search on those part numbers you have to see if any of the US based forums have listed the Mazdaspeed 6 individual stampings and they match what you have.

Thanks for the reply TD. From the following ozmpsclub thread, I believe they are the same part numbers for the V6 and the Speed / MPS 6 http://www.ozmpsclub.com/forum/advan...s-springs.html

I truely hope it is a case of the Kit being one part number and the front and rear springs being separate part numbers because logically that would make sense should someone want to replace one spring due to a defect. I know a few MPS 6 owners on here have eibach prokit's and some may have purchased from the USA. Hence it would be good to hear from them if they are able to shed some light?

    No worries.

Interesting that one pair of the springs appears to be a different spec between the US and Europe/Asia.

I just checked the box (unopened) that my eibach springs are in and they also have the same code (5543.140), so either we have both been screwed or we do have the right set (Pro-Kit) .

I bought mine from StreetUnit in the US however so would assume they have sent the right box.

Well the part number is right for the kit, it was the individual numbers of the springs in the box that I was more concerned with. Well I guess I find out tomorrow morning.

Default Looks like I had nothing to worry about

Just thought I would update this thread to say that I had the springs installed with the stock shocks still on and what a difference! Amazing that the ride has improved, I thought it would end up being stiffer, but it has made the ride more comfortable whilst cornering flatter and not pitching up and down everytime I accelerate or brake. Also gave me the drop that I was after.

I didn't want the car to look dumped as that is not my style but I wanted the stance to be like how it should have rolled out of the factory which it is now! Couldn't be happier! Got the Eibach's installed at Jax in Haberfield which is where I go for rims and tyres. I some how fluked getting a FG XR8 6spd manual Ute courtesy car! Noice! I'll post some pics up once the torrential rain in Sydney gives me a moment to take a decent photo.

Here are a few pics with the Pro-Kits on. I'm quite happy with the stance and how it now handles. Hope you like it

Thought I'd ask here instead of starting up a thread. Do the Eibach Pro-Kit on STOCK OEM shocks improve handling at all? Is it the same, better or worst?
I ordered myself the Eibach's already from Jeff (advancespeedJEFF) from here. I have a habit of asking the questions I need to know beforehand AFTERWARDS.

Also, I think this is actually the PERFECT height and stance the Mazda 6 MPS should be
Hence why I ordered myself a set!

    Hi mate,

Handling is definitely improved. There is less roll in the corners, corners flat now. Also the usual pitch of the nose up and down from braking or accelerating has been greatly reduced. I want to get a set of Bilstein B8's in there but I'll wait another 12 months as the stock shocks seem to be fine. I would say the ride is improved as well to be honest over stock but that could be my mind playing tricks on me. I was a bit worried initially as the same part number springs are used in the Mazdaspeed 6 and the V6 Mazda 6 despite the speed 6 weighing a bit more. Turned out it's fine. Eitherway can't go wrong with the Eibach Prokits for a street driven car!
