Its not the engines .....its the stock turbos that seem to be "luck of the draw" in regards to smoking issues.

It's a cost thing. K04 Turbo is cheap and does a good job for what it is.
I understand now.
Thanks gentlemen.
Speaking of luck.. Mine is smoking again. Turbo being replaced by mazda outside warranty.
Short answer... Yes we are.
BUT, the reason they put these in is for cost. They're a cheap turbo. I don't think Mazda ever saw these cars creating the small cult that we have created. But, Mazda have made a good platform as an enthusiasts car, and it's really only for the mentally unstable (me too) to spend lots of money on these cars...
Now... I hope my tax comes in soon. I want to join the 200 club...

Hey Jmac what's a 'fat pack'?
Sounds kinda dirty.
Would a Hyperflow TMIC suffice for a Stage 2 BNR kit?
Whoop Whoop
FatPack means Gen 1 = sports pack, gen 2 = Luxury
Its my fat package
As Jon said, sports pack = fat pack as it weighs more
Theyre replacing it outside of warranty? Seriosuly?
EVen considering you have been running an aftermarket tune and all kinds of other shenanigans? Who did you give a BJ to? I might need to one day engage the services of this person.
Don't know what your talking about Owen
Is anyone having smoking issues on Gen 2's? As mine started doing it this week dropping it in tomorrow.
I was talking to Kyp from ATP this afternoon and apparently mazda aren't getting him to fix turbos now they are just replacing the shaft... If this makes sense
he just quoted me 2500 for a rebuilt KO4 to a GT28RS spec :O
