USE THIS
Tire Size Calculator - tire & wheel plus sizing
Many want Power not many hold it long.........
it would be be if they were std rims, but my question was if they were both the same weight, whatever ther are,
it was just an example, like a std 15" and light wt 18"
so equal weight 15" & 18", disregard of the handling & traction. would the 18" zap out more power becoz more of its weight is further from the wheel centre?
Do people know the weight of the standard MPS Gen 1 rim without a tire?
Cheers TD , tbh thats not too bad means the tyre weighs more lol i thought they were heavier.
As said above, it is all about unsprung weight. But if you really want to get anal about that, then you'd better begin by removing all seats, carpets and trim and the junk and spare wheel out of the boot of your car, and your glove-box (sprung weight), for that will be far more important to your performance and economy. Then remove the turret, boot, bonnet and doors and replace them with alloy or carbon fibre panels.
Stressing over a few kilos of unsprung weight is academic in the average or even above average road car, and I defy anyone to be able to attribute the difference in "getting off the line" with normal rims as opposed to lighter ones, but you WILL notice it if you remove 100-200+ kg of other stuff.
CP_e Standback & PNP; CP_e 3" SS Downpipe; Corksport FMIC with Top-mount K&N filter & OEM Ram CAI; Turbosmart BOV; Dashhawk; Prosport Boost Guage; JBR solid shift bushes; DBA 4000 Wiper-Slot front rotors; Hawk Ferro-Carbon HPS Street front brake pads (@ 69,000km); Sumitomo HTRZIII's in 225/45 x 18
Only wheels I found that are alot lighter then the stock mps rims are advans or the team dynamics i'm classing alot as over 2kg a rim lighter...
Tried looking on Tire Rack? I know they list the weights.
My concern with running light wheels would be buckling them on our awesome roads...
Lightest wheel for a MPS is an OZ Alleggerita HLT which i love but still only 2.4kg lighter per wheel... My sub and sub box why about 25kg
Might save the cash and get the Michelin Super Sports which are actually 4 pounds lighter then the KU36's and no doubt will be better suited to every day driving.
