Mazda Guru, I posted this in May Sales figure thread, you may not have seen it so posting again

curious as to how the mps3 gen2 sales figures compare to those that were for the mps6 for the 3 years that the mps6 was in production

Would you have any month by month or other figure comparion between say sales of the MPS6, MPS3gen1 and MPS3gen2 for similar 'in production' time slots

wonder if white can save the MPS3 from the same path that happened to the 6
Taken my boring, bland, lame Subaru and my fat ass and driven off into the sunset with a smile on my face

A noticeable car missing is the Falcon, how many do they sell per month?

Apologies for missing that. I'll post up some figures tomorrow.

Ford sold only 1,847 Falcons last month. YTD they've sold just 9,083 (an average of 1,513 per month). That's 43% down on the same period last year. Note: that excludes the Falcon Ute which is also 30% down YOY.

Falcon is doomed. I don't think the 4 cyl ecoboost motor will save it...

Also I wonder how many were GT's in the 7 RX8's sold?

Yeah Ford is stupid for not having the egas falcons selling now , that was about 700 units a month... Ford aren't putting time or money into the sales of the falcon now they are backing mondeo and ranger sales atm also starting to build up the territory.

They claim they wanna launch the falcon with FG2 with a full range of new motors (doubtful on a v8) just after before the new focus hits the rooms.

Falcon is screwed, no real better way of putting it.
And just look at the cars in the top 10, hardly any of them are known as fuel efficient cars. So I doubt the "ecoboost" engines will help (ecoboost is is just direct injection and turbo - same as the MPS motor, so I don't see the fuss)
Commodore is still selling well, though the cruze isn't far behind, but at least holden will/are making them, so should the sales of commodores completely drop, they still have a strong selling locally made product to fall back on.
    What have Ford got?
    Nothing obviously.

One figure I would be interested to see if its at all possible, what percentage of the 3's sales are diesels?
I think the percentage of diesel cruze is fairly high.

Will be interesting to see if there is a rise (or fall) in sales once the new engines are introduced.

A mate of mine looked at an MX-5... Dealer told him not to bother... Quote "It's a toy, you will be back in 3 months looking for a real car. Lots of guys buy these things and then get bored with them very quickly."

So if that is their sales pitch for it, then no wonder it does not sell...

Mazda3 Diesel accounts for between 3-4% of all Mazda3 sales.

Holden Cruze Diesel accounts for 21-25% of all Cruze sales.

The Mazda3 Diesel is only available in manual (hatch and sedan) and in one grade. The Cruze Diesel is available in both manual and automatic and in two grades. Approx 70% of all Cruze Diesel sales are automatic.

    Thanks guru.
    Very interesting.

So the MPS sales of 3 vs 6 are only slightly different. Meaning that the Aussie sales had nothing to do with the unfortunate demise of the 6. So was must only be world sales. What's the chances of that figure and comparison?

Also, Interesting that the diesel makes up such a small percentage of 3 sales.
does that prove my beliefs that people don't really care that much about fuel economy?
None of the highly advertised "economical" cars make it to the top 10.
Or is it that Australian just aren't interested in diesels?

I don't have global volumes. The main reason Mazda6 MPS was discontinued is because North America introduced the larger V6 engine Mazda6 with 272 HP (202 kW) of power and 272 lb-ft (368 Nm) of torque. They didn't feel the need to have both vehicles and without their volume the business case for the MPS didn't stack up.

Australian's care.... We've been downsizing from large cars into more economical small cars and compact SUVs for a number of years now. However until fuel prices head well over $2 per litre you won't see people seeking out diesels or hybrids in large numbers. We still prefer the instant response and driving feel of petrol engines and aren't yet willing to pay the premium for diesel or hybrid. As the cost of these economical vehicles come down and the powertrain combos become available (e.g. SKYACTIV-D with the SKYACTIV-Drive automatic) you'll see an increase.

In general (despite all the hype) Australian's are still relatively apathetic about climate change and are still more concerned about what it'll cost them.

Wow if you managed a 2009 BK 1 of only 29 pretty special, i can't believe there was 1509 BK MPS's seems like there is 100's in just my area.

Who are the owners of the 2 2009 6's?

It was only available for sale in December of 2005, they were the first ones off the line.

Yes very lucky the 2 people who scooped up brand new MPS6's in 2009 wonder where those cars had been hiding.

The car was quite late arriving. They may have been back orders that were filled by the first shipment.

I wonder if the Mazda business case for the 6MPS included having 1500 loyal Mazda owners subsequently become predominantly VW owners?
