    Default Got a CEL (P2096)

I got a CEL it's P2096 the only mod I have is a intake and tip, so it's a bit strange, I thought this CEL usually had to do with aftermarket downpipes, does anyone have any idea what may be causing this CEL? Cheers

If you haven't cleaned the MAF sensor I would definitely try that as cleared mine up the first time I got the P2096. Make sure you get the right cleaning solution from supercheap etc for the MAF. See TD's right and I think yeldarb also did one not so long ago as well

I used this. Seemed to clean up nicely.

If you're in Brisvegas you can borrow it.

Or you can buy it from Jaycar.

Not to be confused with the red can of circuit board lacquer! You can also get Air Sensor/Contact cleaner from Supercheap (Thanks Dan).

Gen 2s are more prone to CELs than Gen 1s and 6 MPSs. Make sure you always have a clean MAF sensor and (if you have an oiled one) never put too much oil on your filter.

Thanks for the advice everyone, I cleaned the MAF sensor today so will see how that goes. The car only has 8000 km on it, I have the K&N SRI and have had it on for the last 6000km and never once a CEL, then about a week ago this P2096 comes up. I did take it to Mazda and they checked it and cleared it, the gent there was really helpful and said if it comes up again to give him a call and book it in, he talked about some sort of valve replacement however they would need to order it in.

Anyway if anyone has any other ideas please let me know and in the meantime I hope that cleaning the MAF sensor has worked, Ill let everyone know.

Again thanks for your help and advice to everyone

My car has had cel since about 7 months old. They still have not worked out why. It is now 19 months old. There are other threads about my issue. Sure hope they sort yours out ASAP. Good luck.

I am using tapatalk so can't do the link thing (or I just don't know how) but I have written things under the Gen two warranty fix post and the consumer laws post and what did you do to your Mazda today. ( hope that helps) and loads of codes different each time they put on computer. Mostly about fuel being lean or running rough.
Today they are replacing the o2 sensor and I told them to clean the maf sensor ( after reading on here that others are doing that)

    Needed
1x can of electrical contact cleaner
    1x can of compressed air
    1x phillips head screwdriver
    1x flat head screwdriver

    1. locate MAF on intake
    2. use flat head to remove loom (use it gently under clip to remove)
    3. use phillips head to unscrew MAF
    4. spray lots of electrical contact cleaner onto MAF sensor (mainly on the 'dirty' side - one side will be black, the other clearish)
    5. spray compressed air onto MAF to help dry
    6. leave somewhere safe to dry
    7. re-install MAF

WHATEVER YOU DO DO NOT DROP THE SENSOR!
