Thread: oil level doubt !!!!

  1. Default oil level doubt !!!!

    Hi

    i got a mps 6, and today i checked my engine oil level with the engine warm and the level goes a bit above max level , is this normal or it has too much oil ?

    Not sure if you did, but remove dipstick, clean the oil off the dipstick and check it again.
    If its still at that high level, them i'd give it an oil change.
    5.7L is the correct amout for referance sake

    When the engine is warm/hot the oil that was in the sump (where the dipstick measures from) is circulating around the engine. So you'll only get an accurate oil level when the engine is cool/cold as the oil then comes back to rest in the sump

    Interesting.... the manual from my gf's Eunos says to warm the car up and then let it sit for 5 mins before checking it.

    To the OP - You've probably checked this... is the car on level ground?

    I was always told to check the oil at "normal" engine operating temperature, but after the engine has been shut off for a few minutes to allow the oil to drain back.

    i went to dealer and it had too drain almost 1 litre to be at max level
