    hi all,

has anyone thought about a full car matte black wrap ?
a old firends boyfriend owns exotic kustoms ( in vic) they do matte black wraps on almost anything boats, cars, trucks and they did the graffics on the 'just car' r34 give away car and do generally cool stuff all round! From what i understand it lasts awhile and costs less than half the price of a full respray....
anyway heres the link murdered @ Exotic Kustoms tell me what you think??

My thoughts on matte black is - mate your car needs a polish.
Or matte black belongs in the engine bay of a 1970's holden.
Or, it looks like a cheap crap paint job in "GMH Black" or air dry enamel.
Or, it looks like a heavy guide coat and your about to rub it down for a coat of nice Shiney paint.

If you can't tell, I'm not a fan.

But if you like it, your choice.
But don't make the mistake like the motor mags EVO X they did.
It's wrapped over a white car, so when you open the doors or petrol cap it sticks out like dogs balls.

I was going to do my Audi, but, someone in the US has already done it and it doesn't look as good as I first thought.

It would require the right accessories to pull it off right.

    done right.

Agree. I think it works because it has the flared arches, low stance, and no other colour aside from the matte. I'm not sure that the MPS is really the right shape to pull it off effectively or with the same menace (menace is what you're really going for when you do something like this)

I wasn't refering if the car was real, just an example of what works and what doesn't on the same car.

The Gold colour wheels on the MPS doesn't do it its gotta be black! Look at the cars on the net best with black wheels!

Pics can make the car looks better than they really are, I have seen a few cars is matte black in the flesh and Im not a fan, while i like that they arent very common i dislike that they look unfinished.

I'm actually a huge fan Matt black.

I was toying with the idea of doing Matt black bonnet and roof.

    A bit like the L.E. Gallardo Nera;

The cars it looks great on ' as Dan said' are menacing. The gen 1 mps is more stealth looks like a normal mazda 3, Matt black just doesnt work on them

Unless u do a complete spoiler kit + wide stance, then RWD or AWD to finish it off...

Vinyl wrap can look quite good... and it protects the paint for when you may want to re-sell...
Its not cheap though and it has a certain lifespan (3 years?) before needs re-doing.

next door to my work is the head office for Jaguar and there is a matte black XKR

    My CF-wrapped MX-5:

Most vinyl wrap nowadays will last minimum 7 years.
