    god no!
i've just been around a while, and know what's involved with pulling injectors...

have never done it myself, but know most people with decent amount of mechanical skill (ie, not me) can do it by themselves in a few hours...

MPS update. So Mazda have done diagnostic tests last Monday. 2 days ago they phoned me and said that they need the car again for another day to do more diagnostic testing to send to Mazda Australia. After all of that, they still can't give me an answer. They don't know what's wrong with it. When idoling in neutral, it's using nearly 13.4ltr/100km. When I'm doing 50km in 4th gear at 2000 rpm it's using nearly 15ltr/100km. They are still thinking it's a problem with the injectors. Quite concerned as my factory warranty runs out next month.

If you get it all in writing, you should be fine as the problem was identified in the warranty period. Just don't let them close off the repair until you are sure it's fixed

Thanks for your reply. Mazda just phoned me and said that the warning light on the dash does not appear anymore and they cannot find anything wrong. Therefore if it ever happends again, let them know and we will go from there. The thing is though, the guy from Mazda has told me for 2 weeks that he thinks one of the injectors are faulty. He now tells me that the diagnostic testing doesn't show anything wrong. I asked him to put some injector cleaner through it before I pick it up today and he said it's a waste of money as it won't do anything therefore won't put put it through. I asked if they can pull the injectors out and test them. He said on older model cars they can, but not my car!! I'm confused.

He isn't lying as such. He probably doesn't have the capability to test the injectors. The engine on the MPS is direct injection. This means the fuel is injected in to the cylinder after it has already been compressed.

They are designed to inject in to a cylinder with ~180psi of pressure.

If you take them out of the car and get them to fire, they wont inject like they would in the vehicle, so the test is relatively pointless.

    Specialist testing equipment is necessary.

If i were you, if he originally suspected an injector I would push to have them replaced under warranty anyway. At the very least get something in writing from Mazda or the dealer stating that they acknowledge there is a potential issue there and that the issue occured during the warranty period and should be treated as a warranty repair if any work is needed shortly after your warranty expires.

Not too sure if this will help or not, but my Gen 2 mps was running around 11/100kms when i first got it S/H but after I swapped the stock air intake with a SURE SRI I managed to get 9.2/100 kms and i get around 500 kms when driven normality.
