    Default MPS 3 2nd GEN !!

    Hi All,

Just made a purchase on a 09 Aluminium MPS Luxury. I will start by saying what an amazing beautiful car these are!!!

I have previously owned a civic and integra vtec, Nissan s14, Wrx and this is by far the most fastest, practical, luxurious car i have owned.

Thought I'd introduce myself.... My name is Andre and I purchased the car two weeks ago. I look forward to reading more about these cars and enjoying these forums.

    Cheers,
    Dre

I know I Know. There is a million Aluminium. hehe.
I tell you what, every car i have had has been black. I got over the swirl marks and constant need to clean it every two days. (Was pretty close to getting a Black MPS)
However, I went for a more subtle colour but it looks good all year round! And i am absolutely in love with this colour.

I have a few questions if you guys cna help me out?

    The next few things i want to get are cosmetic and im after the following;
    - Roof racks (Not sure which brand to get). My friend recommended Thule
    - Snowboard Roof rack Carriers (Keep it consistent with Thule)
    - Cargo Tray. (Genuine or Ebay)? diff in price is about 100 bucks
    - Headlights protectors - What is the price on these? Does it make the car look ugly, Does anyboy have pics of them on an MPS? The reason i want them is, I would imagaine if by bad luck the headlights cracked due to a rock etc... it would be very expensive to repair.

Also, I need to go for a 70,000km service next year. Ive been quoted by ringwood Mazda (where the car has previously been serviced) $267.00.
    Does that sound about right?
Im planning to get it done in mulgrave as its right next door. Are they reputable? I want to make sure my car is taken care of when i visit these dealers.

Cant help on the roof racks, maybe look at laminx film for headlight protectant.
I don't go near penfold mazda anymore wasn't too happy with a few things. Garry & Warren Smith Mulgrave (near you) is very very good, Justan will look after you (a few of us go there now).

Sweet. Where do i find this film and what does it prevent?

    What were u unhappy about?
Also, i noticed from past history receipts, ringwood mazda serviced and started using non-genuine oils from 40000kms on wards. pretty unhappy they didnt go genuine on this.

Whats ya name bud? Maybe I can say i got referred from yourself?

    Cheers

Just trying to charge me for things they never did or saying they did things that I know weren't done, I just don't trust them anymore.
Lamin-x Protective Films its a thick film (coloured or clear) to stop chips etc. They are pretty popular on mazdaspeed forums
I usually take my own fully synthetic oil in, Mazda only use semi-syn for our cars.
My name is Darren, I believe a few of us @slixx (Pete), also go here.

Sweet. Thanks heaps Darren and nice to meet you.

What brand/grade fully synthetic oil is recommended to be used? I would rather just go the recommended semi Synthetic Mazda oils though...

Doesn't really matter too much.. It's always better to run a Full Syn in our cars, prob just as much to take your own in then for them to use a lower quality oil.. I use Nulon Hi-Tech Fast Flowing Synthetic Engine Oil - 10W-40, 6 Litre - Supercheap Auto Australia

Thanks mate. Will that void the warranty at all by using non genuine products for servicing?
I'd be happy for them to use the Mazda genuine Oils for my service. But then it comes down to whether they actually used the genuine oils or not. (Which i wouldnt know)... Unless I bought the genuine oils myself and bring it in...

    Welcome aboard!

As for oils, running a full-syn is really a waste of cash in any car other than a super-hot running race-car or a car that is tracked very regularly. Give Penrite a call (in Boronia/Wantirna) and get a few ins and outs about oils. Basically, a full-syn is more about degradation at extremes, which rarely happen in our cars. It's the additives that companies put into the oils and how they're mixed/blended that make or break an oil. The actual lubricating part is only a small part of the overall picture.

The price for the service seems decent but as mentioned, listen to the crowd. If people are unhappy with a particular service centre, they will let others know.

I hear you about the black... I own a Gen 1 black 3 MPS and well, I could make people cry with how neglected it is in terms of cleaning and swirls etc.
