I took some reading from a Gen2 3 i did thye other day. Its not an MPS but it dosnt matter. they are all the same.
Bonnet average was around 110 micron

You can use the low cut menzernas by hand, like 85RD but as Joel said you have no hope of fixing the marks by hand. If your generous with the lime prime and wipe it over, rather than working it in...
My missus lives in WPH off highs rd so i'm over there all the time. Send me your number by pm or text and ill let you know next time i'm near. I might be able to stop in tomorrow afternoon.
I dont own one but i did put a couple through some extensive testing to see if they were up to the job
Rather than the G220 try the DAS-6
For only $50 more than the G220 you get the machine, pads and polish.
Its a great machine that comes with a bag, spare brushes, side handle and D handle. So...
Personally i would
1. Wash
2. Clay with a good quality bar and lube
3. Polish with Menzerna Final Finish PO85U
4. Polish/cleanse with Dodo Lime Prime then Wax with the Blue Velvet
5. No need...
Before i do any machine polishing, even light cutting, i take paint thickness reading. I have turned down jobs before because i didnt feel that there was a safe level of film build.
Yes it could have been avoided i suppose. Sucks so much though.
I think you have hit the nail on the head there buddy! Whilst thin the mazda paint is usually very hard as well which makes RO strike through very unlikely
The paint must have been ultra thin! Do you travel to Sydney much? i would love to grab some readings before you get it fixed.
What could have happened is that during pre delivery the detailer hit...
is that on a ridge? Also what polish, pad, machine and speed were you using at the time?
I'm so intrigued at this!
Can you throw up a pic for us. Im very interested to see it.
Do es it look kind of like this. I'm referring to the darkened circle near the middle of the picture. Thats clear coat burn ...
Mazda paint is thin BUT its really really hard. Im VERY surprised that an RO of all things cut through it. I did a test where i put a cutting pad and Menzerna Powergloss (a very aggressive polish) on...
Yep!!! If even the smallest bit of dirt gets caught between the blade and the paint it will scratch hard. Also microfiber waffle weave towels are the safest way to dry a car. Reason being if there is...
you dont buy it by the litre and with a weekly washing you will go through maybe 2 bottles a year
Also if you have a protection coat down you can use Water Spot Remover to get them off
You could also try some Time to Dry What it does is break the beads surface tension which makes them form a flat sheet. This means that you don't have beads that evaporate and leave water marks but...
Yeah i figured that. Sorry if it came across as i was telling you how to do your job. I'm sure your more than capable! :) I would hate to paint a truck that would suck lol
Yes once plastic has...
I will throw Duragloss Rubber and Bumper dressing into the mix as well. Ive tested it against Black wow and its performs as well but is cheaper.
More info here:...
Around $100.
Nah the DIY is simple. you pull the trigger and it sprays the solution then you just vac over it and it sucks everything up
You will need to shampoo them to remove it all. You can pay a detailer to do it or hire the machine from wollies and DIY
You will learn heaps mate. Its a great morning
Thanks. It was brand new LOL That was the problem!!
Yep. Seems if they had of dried it with a waffle weave they would have won. I havnt seen the squeege in action round Sydney, its usually old chamois
Most likely no. They will say you didnt care for it properly by not going back and having the reapplication done unfortunately. It would be worth a try though
That sounds like the coating has failed and subsequently the colour is deterioriating. If you want someone to have a look at it and give you an opinion if its treatable head to car care products....
