Direct injected petrol engines do infact like direct injection diesels run fuel pressure well in excess of 1500psi. That is why a good fuel pump on a MPS3 and MPS6 is so important.
Its strange that your pump "kit" failed yet mine performed with no issues at all. The kit i fitted did just on 20000kms in my old MPS3 whilst i still owned it and has done a further 25000+ kms with...

I ran DBA4000 series slotted rototrs on my MPS3 and they were damn good.
Still have them sitting my shed at home, they have only done approx 10000kms and still look like new. Pity ya didnt live in...

The revised version 2 CPE mount that was on my MPS3 for 5 weeks looked like new still when i took it off the car, was much much much much better than the **** version 1.
Yeah that car (number 988) ran an Xede piggyback on it but the car (number125) in the video that i posted didnt apparently. The one in the video doesnt have the Xede stickers on the front bar either.
