Thanks bd. Would a bad cat smell rotten all the time instead of only when being flogged?
I recently have this happened. Smells of sulphur/rotten egg after some spirit acceleration.
I haven't switched to other fuels from the ones I usually use but I did switch my engine oil to Penrite...
Nope the only dyno I've done is the butt dyno :-). And you're right, even the APP translation tables aren't working for me. I clamp down 1st and 2nd gear to about 50% but the datalog still show APP...
I got my Cobb AP late last year and was very excited.
First I ran stage 0 OTS. Found out that doesn't offer much and is just like stock so I went to Safe mode OTS - that unlocked a few things and...
I get more KR if BAT is high or when the car engine is heat soaked.
Thanks all for the comments. Looks like it needs to hit the workshp for diagnosis.... as there is no CEL or codes.
Reedy: nope it's already warmed up so it's not going thru the warm-the-oil-up...
Just notice recently when I come to a stop at a traffic light that the engine on my 3MPS gen1 revs up slightly. The sequence goes like this:
1. Engine rpm drops to about 1k with foot on brake
2....
Off topic but I remember I was able to hit about 180 kph+ near the start of Queensland Raceway first corner on the Mazda driver track day  . Real speed might be ~170kph since the speedo is...

Yes! Those are the reasons I went with smaller wheels: better performance via lower unsprung weight and cheaper tyre (still top rubber though); the last one is more compliant ride over crap roads.
I've got a set of 17x7 lightweight Enkei on mine with 215/50/17. The combo of wheel/tyre is 4 kg lighter than stock each. No problem with brake clearance. The lower offset also widens the wheel track...
Oh yeah... and the noise starts even from low revs.:burnout: Love it... gives the car a little bit of character I reckon.
I used to short shift a bit in traffic but with this lovely engaging...
Got the JBR Transmission Side Motor Mount 70a Durometer installed yesterday and here are my first impressions on my 3 MPS 2006.
Gear changes:
massive improvement in changing gear. can shift...
I think you need to try BPU for a few tanks to clean up the residue and to get the ECU to re-learn to notice any difference. I have used E10 from independent retailers before but only in emergency...
Thanks for that Popular Mechanics article. I still do believe in breaking in brake discs and pads though. Last time I didn't do them all my front brake rotors went warpish.
Each's got their own...
If you have the CP-e transmission motor mount in, I hope you used red loctite on the allen bolts.
Re the CP-E RMM, it uses EPDM rubber instead of urethane so it's nice and comfy but I guess it may...
I use BP95 or Vortex 95. I find that it's great for hypermiling. Engine cruises great even at 1.6k revs in 6th. With BPU or V-Power, try to do the same and you get engine pinging which sucks!

Cosmic blue 3 MPS totalled on its side after brake failure at 210+ kph. Driver lives to tell story. Good on him and on the MPS airbag system.

2010 Mazdaspeed3: Suspension Walkaround
If the fan turns on when I am about to turn the engine off, I would leave the engine on until the fan turns off. Then I'll turn the engine off.
This way the water pump (which works when the...
Sounds like fun throwing an AWD around. From what I've read almost all AWD cars with front engine still default to understeer.
Even Ken Block's STIs in his famous gymkhana drift videos had to use...
Thanks all. I am too inexperienced at things mechanical. Got burnt a couple of times when I tried to work on a car... I stripped the threads of a bolt once and then broke a mount another time ...
I am seriously thinking of putting a set of Koni FSD on my gen 1 MPS. However, after viewing Koni FSD install how-to and forum posts on them, it seems that there are fitment issues for the DIY'ers.

Mazda makes great cars and I am loyal to the brand and I hope Mazda bring out an AWD GT MPS of some kind to keep the AWD club happy :-)
Now just for chatting...
