Disconnecting the PJB is the most fun part of the task!
When i did it to my Diesel which i believe uses the same ac system, it was a real c*** of a job. After i had done it and straightened out my...
sure does! whatever you do, dont put a GL5 oil in it even if the viscosity is suitable.. unless you want to be stuck at the lights trying to engage 1st
have you tried pressing the clutch a little earlier and giving it a light jab on the gas pedal? probably something to do with the synchros.
i think its just characteristic of the gearbox. as for...
2nd to 1st for under 18kmh.. for when there isnt enough torque take off in 2nd as you roll towards lights and they turn green but youre not stationary :)
tonight was pretty cold and im happy to...
I replaced the factory oil yesterday with VMX 80 and shifts feel quite a bit better now :)
quite a good result from $44 and about an hour's work (mostly due to laziness in jacking the car all the...
MSF (and a couple of other Mazda forums) swears by Redline MT90 or Motorcraft XT-M5-QS.
However theres been several reports of severe premature wear on the gearboxes using the Motorcraft oil......
had a chat to Aaron from MPS garage yesterday - 60D rear mounts are back ordered.
after many successful results here with Castrol VMX 80, i bought a bottle and changed it out.
The result isnt...
i have Remsa pads in the rear too and i have the same problem. Handbrake all the way up til it feels like you're going to snap the cable, parked on a hill and as each passenger gets in you hear the...
after 22000km i still concede that this is the clunkiest most frustrating gearbox i've driven.
I've tried moving seat back/forward to get closer/farther from the shifter. I will raise the suggestion...
Reedy, how are you progressing with your caliper flex problem? did you end up getting the bushings?
yep, if you ever get air before the ABS module, you'll need to use the mazda MMDS system to modulate the pump & get the air out. Getting air after the ABS module like replacing the flex lines or...
Yeah it's very slightly different - the back has some sort of balancing weight and the flexi line does not connect directly to the caliper but rather via a short angled hard line and the flexi line...
The stock rubber ones are easy to remove - use a flat screwdriver and lever the lip towards the hole (from the inside of the caliper) while pulling on the dust boot end with sturdy pliers. Might help...
BTW might be a good idea to inspect the pistons for uneven wear as sloping pads can't be doing them too much good..
and about the retaining clip, i believe it's also there to help retract the...
Hey mate,
i've kept pretty quiet about this one. been paid out for my brake 'upgrade' on my diesel and the numerous issues ive had.
Grab a set of these: TyrolSport Brake Caliper Stiffening kit

There are some reports from the US with similar ticking noises when braking, using different brands of rotors and different cars. I dont really mind it because once the rotors are quite hot, they...
Problem seems to have subsided - had the calipers rebuilt and that made probably the biggest difference. The square cut seal was probably just a tad worn out, so much so that it was unable to...
what did you use to clean up the spilt/sprayed brake fluid?
MPS Garage have always been good to me, very fast service and more than happy to go the extra mile with odd requests
oh yes, you mean the actual cooling fins in the centre of the rotor are non directional!
i think it's actually the 6x6 slots that are making the ticking noise. no abnormal wear on the main slotted...
HAHAH i wished it was that simple, but this is a set of the original 4000 slotted (not the T3 style). I've updated my original post.
I'm starting to doubt that it's the clip/spring. It's a bloody...
Hey guys,
I'm starting to regret my recent project - MPS front caliper conversion onto a 3 Diesel.
Parts i used: DBA 4000 slotted rotors (the original directional slotted, not the unidirectional...
the air reeked of piss after turning off the a/c and letting the fan still run before i changed the filters in my car.
to my astonishment they were black and clogged with jacaranda leaves. and...
i made the mistake of thinking GL5 is better than GL4, put GL5 75w90 nulon into my box and first gear was really stiff and at times took a few seconds to engage. overall it felt like there was sand...
on our cars, will it still be on the glovebox (passenger's) side or would it be under the driver's side for a M3?
my air really reeks..
is there still the quality issues with them or are they all made in japan now? i do like to have some fun with corners but its the wet that im more concerned about - braking distances and cornering...
