Gen 1 Mps 3 engine rebuild

Hi everyone,

It's my first time on the forum so bare with me.

Earlier this year I bought a gen 1 mazda 3 mps. Last month the engine decided to die due to a faulty oil cooler according to RAC. They wanted to charge me 9.6k for a new engine which isn't really worth it in my opinion.

So my question is where should I go to get an engine rebuild? Preferably somewhere that is reliable and doesn't break the bank. Or should I just get a new engine? Any help is really appreciated.

How badly did it die?

As in, did it put a hole in the block, or just bend a rod?

Unfortunately these engines are not cheap when buying from Mazda, can get second hand ones off eBay for mid 5k... Probably find a rebuild will cost in the 4-5k range assuming block & head is in decent condition

Get a price off better places.
