Hi guys
Got a gen 1 mps 3, just wondering, under mid-heavy acceleration at what rpm is it suppose to start boosting. I might have problems, don't yet know....
Any help would be great.
Thanks

What sort of mods do you have mate?
For a bone stock MPS that is pretty high in the rev range.
Standard turbo standard tune = 3000rpm
Stock gen 2 MPS;
Can be felt boosting from around 2,500 ramp.
Feels as though the full compliment of psi is available at 3,000 ramp
No mods a part from pod filter. It felt different driving it this morning. Last night I let my cousin take it for a drive and later found out he thrashed it and took it all the way to redline every gear. I'm thinking he might have damaged the turbo. It still boosts but don't feel like it used to
Your cousin sounds like a jerk!
Hope you get it sorted soon.
Is it easy to check this stuff? How can it be done? I'm wondering if I drive sensibly will it correct it's self out over time?
Do you have access to a port reader? like a scangauge or dashhawk.
No I don't.......
Where are you from? Can a member near you help you out....
I betcha there is at least one still stock
To the OP, I agree with everyone has said above. Check your hoses. Its a hands on things...just have a feel of the clamps and hoses and look them over with some decent light. Gen 1's boost starts ramping up around 2500. I'm not sure when they hit full boost but definitely by 4000.
The other option, dare I mention it, is to put your original intake back on. Then go to a *trusted* mazda dealer and have them check it out for you.
I for one do NOT take my car to mazda dealers, but if you're not confident that you can do the work, and nobody is available to help, you have little choice...
You can always send the invoice to your cousin :)

Also, my engine is stock, and boost arrives so far before 4000 rpm that I'm never looking at the tacho when it goes past 4000 :) Full boost / torque from 3000 if not more like 2700.
i remember mine kicking in at at about 2500 and reaching sorta peak at about 3000 when stock. so 4000 doesnot feel quite right.
