Hey guys just bought a 2006 6mps with 145k on it. Noticed it has an engine rattle on cold start up. No idea what it is. Going replace engine oil as is says its low could be a source, but was just wondering if it could be the timing chain or or anything else. Cheers
Is the sound from sump or tappet cover/oil cap?
Look up VVT and valve train and compare the sounds on videos posted there and see if anything fits what you have
Look at FAQ link in my SIG, has a link showing where the vvt noise comes from
Also check out the engine section of the forum, never know what you may about VVT there :)
