Thread: New Exhaust

  1. Default New Exhaust

    Hey guys

I'm new here and just have a question.

    I recently bought a 6 MPS 2006.

Recently have had my Cat changed to a Hurricane Cat from Liverpool exhausts. Looking to now have the full catback exhaust completed there too.

Just wondering if any of you guys could give me an idea of how this will sound and any thing I should know around this or any recommendations.

    Thanks guys

Why u put a new cat on, most people here run with 1 cat.
if your after sound just remove the centre resonator , if your after power fatback won't do much.

Replace the T split with a Y split and change the rear mufflers so they fill out the rings a bit better :-)

I'll try to remember photos and a video of ours.

    Thanks for the responses

Firstly I don't have a resonator and also I'm a bit of power increase but mostly for sound. Should I do something different and maybe change the downpipe or work more on the actually exhaust ?

This is all new to me so getting my head around how it all works

    Sound, change the mufflers.
    Power, change the DumpPipe.

    Yea as above, thought u had a 3 , didn't read properly .
The flow on the 3 and 6 is pretty good anyway,DP will net u more KW and give u a bit more sound where a catback will give u sound but not many KW.
cheaper to do muffler if u want sound.

Ok great so any recommendations for a particular DP to look at ?

I was thinking of getting that done at Liverpool exhausts but any other places you guy recommend me to look at in Sydney ??

Have a look at our forum sponser edge auto sports , u could prob get a CPE delivered for about $750 but be prepared its a big job on the 6 between 4-6 hours depending on mechanic so expect at least $500 to install.
And to take advantage of DP u should get a tune as well.

Yeh I've heard it's pretty hefty job.

I'll check that out. Thx man

Is it possible to just have the DP installed without needing to have a full catback exhaust completed ??

Will it sound ok ? I know I get some power benefits as well

Yes pretty sure u can, if same as 3 then yes.
A lot of us here on forums 3 and 6 have DP with stock exhaust as stock exhaust flows so well.
But remember to take full advantage of DP will need a tune

    Ok awesome

Might look into the CP-e Downpipe and possibly a tune too.

    All in good time

Check out the Corksport DP, it has a divorced wastegate pipe, you do get slightly more gains out of having this arrangement on a DP then having an arrangment like the CPE or the stocker. 2XS might be able to sort you out with one of his DPs for the 6, plus I dont think anyone has had any CEL issues with his DP, which is always handy

Ok cool man. I'll send a PM over to 2XS.

Can the CEL issue be cleared ??

You can clear the CEL but they could come back. I always get CELs when it's cold, just clear it with the torque app (android) and is gone. You need to confirm its nothing serious though, mines a cat issue so happy to clear it.

DP was the first major change I did on my 3, made me fall in love all over again.

Didn't need a tune, got about 12 kws out of it, sounded deeper on stock exhaust. Nice change.

But i believe DP swap out on a 6 is a mission so ask around here for quotes, estimated times for install, possibly garages who can help.

    Good luck.
