    Default Mps Brake Discs

    Hey all,

About to go in for my 50k service and reckon my brakes are screwed.

Last service they stated my discs were nearly dead and at the moment they screach and squeek.

Question - When the service is performed they will mention that the discs need replacing, so price/quality wise am I better going Factory or aftermarket?

    Cheers Magoo

aftermarket.. OEM discs and brakes are over priced.

Just been through this myself at 65,000K

I went with DBA standard rotors and (due to availability) OEM pads. Didn't save as much as I would have if I'd been more organised about getting pads...after market pads would have saved another $200

still bedding in, but coming good now.

I feel that I only require front discs at 60k. Anybody had to replace front and rear or just fronts at around this age?

I am going to order the slotted/crossdrilled 4000 XS series. Just not sure as to wether Im likely to need front and rears.

Also no problems with having differing disks front and rear?

    Just go for the slotted.

It seems that the cross drilled have the tendancy to crack (from hole to hole etc) alot easier than just the slotted.

When I need/want an upgrade, I'll be running these.

Yep agree, change my mind quickly

Just had to search a little to discover that the crossdrilled rotors are purely wank value (Pity they look so good)

    Slotted 4000 to be ordered.

I ran DBA4000 series slotted rototrs on my MPS3 and they were damn good.

Still have them sitting my shed at home, they have only done approx 10000kms and still look like new. Pity ya didnt live in SA i wouldve sold them to ya for a very reasonable price as i no longer have the car.

i need new brake pads soon so doing the usual searches through here to decided what to get!

i usually buy bendix through work as i get trade price but curious about the QFM Performance Brake Pads Front A1RM !

i rung up mazda and got quoted $335 for front pads

I had DBA 4000 slotted on my GenI.

The OEM's warped at about 20k so I bought the DBA's, fitted them and still got a factory OEM set under warranty!!

Have the brand new OEM fronts in a box in my garage at the moment and will part with them reasonably if anyone is interested.

Far and away the best pads we've come across on the market if you want to do a bit of light track work with the car, but if it's a street only, best to stick to the QFM HPX (Bendix Ultimate equivalent, but very low dust and rotor wear) and save yourself a few bucks.

Sick of paying too much for high performance brake pads? Want high performance and cold bite with low rotor wear?

2nd the QFM pads, my uncle stocks them back home and had some on the 180SX. Generate alot less dust than OEM.

Remember too, often rotors can be machined until minimum thickness if they arent warped.
