sure, the calculator says that its OK, but goodyear says it isnt

click the "tyre sizes available" link at the bottom of the page

Bridgestone list 235/40-18 as an optional size for the MPS.

    http://www.bridgestone.com.au/tyrese...mid=0&type=PSR

Given they also list 265s... but what I'm saying is just because the tyre manufacturers website doesn't list it, doesn't mean it wont fit.

-235/40/18 is legal, so long as it's load rating is OK (89W at least for MPS).-

EDIT: I'll have to check that actually!!!

Bugger about your puncture. My old man also suffered an un-repairable puncture on his 6MPS yesterday, thanks to an over-enthusiastic council grader driver who graded the gravel roads around our farm a few days ago. He brought up so many sharp rocks it's not funny. If I get a puncture the local council will be receiving the bill (mine as well as Dad's). BTW, dad's tyre only had 3000km clocked up

He runs Michelin Pilot Preceda 2s in 215/45 size and was quoted $420 to replace! Not a happy chappy, but what to do??

I second kmh001 on this. I also had Falken 452s on my car (225/45) and was so disappointed with them they were sold within 4000km and replaced with Michelins.

The minimum rim width spec for the tyre is what needs to be checked. To my knowledge there are no 235/40R18 specced as warrantable by the tyre manufacturer to the 7" wide OEM rims - all specify 8" wide, with a couple OK'd for 7.5" wide rims.

235/40 are OK on rolling diameter, but not OK on OEM rim width.

rolling diameter is not the only spec that needs to be met. You must meet all manufacturers warrantable fitment specs.

Yep looking into it last night I'd agree...

While they'll fit, it might not necessarily be legal

An alternate size would probably be 225/45s which are at least a little more common than 215s.

I'd be looking a bit deeper at insurance and 235 tyres on 7" rims...
All tyre makers I know recommend an 8" rim for 235's..
Here's one of many Tire Size Calculator - tire & wheel plus sizing

I've got Falken ZE-912's on a 225\40, but on a 7.5 inch rim. Can vouch for them, they are a much quieter tyre than the Potenza's, probably have done about 5 thousand clicks on them so far, let's see how long they last.

225/45 is the alternative size of choice for OEM rims.

225/40 (7.5" min rim) are unwarrantable for the same reason as 235/40 (8" min rim)

Cashie is right. Insurance company will look for any excuse for not paying.
So be careful before going too crazy.

I have been quoted on my stock rims:
Kumho ECSTA SPT 31 (215/45/18) =>$275 (KMart Auto)
Sumitimo HTZR III (225/45/18) =>$315 (Ian Diffen Tyre Centre)
Sumitimo HTZR III (225/40/18) =>$280 (Ian Diffen Tyre Centre)

    Any suggestions on which size?
Anyone knows a good tyre shop in WA they can recommend to me?

    thanks.

Can't remember where you're located Los Palmas, but Bridgestone Malaga have helped me in the past and been pretty good, or Bridgestone Kewdale (near work) were helpful recently and took extra care of my new painted rims Also Goodyear Belmont are helpful
