    Default Powder Coating

    Hi everyone,

I'm wanting to Powder coat my stock MPS3 rims satin black as I have seen many MPS's over in the States with Metro grey with Black stock rims and i must say they look hot! Can anyone help recommend a reasonably priced powder coating place in Brisbane? preferably one that opens on a weekend or is not too far from Lutwyche?

    Thanks

Want to have mine looking like the one below the one below got a spoiler extension on it

Most decent wheel repairers should have powder coating facilities. Maybe @2XS has a suggestion here

Am going through this process in Melb myself with a set of RX8 Series 1 wheels. Want them done in a proper shadow chrome (like RX8 Shinka, or BWM shadow chrome), and this process is started by powdercoating the wheels black

    Good luck

Brother just had a set of wheels powdercoated, found out some interesting information from them.

Powdercoat is soft, so it doesn't chip as easily as paint.
Bad points is that the finish won't be as good as paint, won't be as shiny as paint (not that it matters if you want matte or semi gloss) and it can't be polished.

I can paint them, or have them P/C for you.
I have a spare pair here so you can swap as you go.
Or I can organise a spare set of rims for you to roll on while you wait.

Do you have the light alloy or shadowchrome rims?
    Condition?

Hi Dan did you ever get your rums powder coated satin black? I'm looking at doing my stock rims satin black and got a quote from a powdercoat place in carrum in Vic. He said including sand blasting back then satin black powder coat - $60 per wheel. Pretty good. I will get my break calipers done in bright blue too and I think I will have the look I'm after.

    Hey,

I ended up doing the rims myself with VHT Gloss Black wheel paint. But $60/rim is pretty damn good price for powder-coating so definitely take up that offer!

Mine were shadow chromed. A fair bit more involved than a standard powder coat.

I'm looking to do my 18" again as they have stone chips. Wonder what colours they can do them in?

Just realised a little speed bump in my idea to get my rims powder coated.
    1) they need only the rims, they don't have facilities to take the tyres off.
    2) I need to get my tyres taken off, then borrow a set of wheels/tyres, then drop them off and they need wheels for 5 days

    A couple of issues there

Unless anyone in Melbourne has a set of tyres/wheels i can borrow for a week?

    Thanks

Looks good, any idea of cost? I was going to do the same with Porsche shadow chrome, but its $1000 per litre!
