Project : Mad Mazda

I have a spare MPS motor and I'm considering a project of some sort. If you could do anything (within reason) that's legal, what would it be? Something exciting and different.

I'm thinking:

Mazda 3 AWD (6MPS running rear) widebody, Like the VW Golf GTI W12. It would have to have around 500+Hp to be fun. Fully stripped with a roll cage.
Mazda 2 (Or 121 Metro) with MPS running gear.

Any other ideas???

MX5 with the MPS turbo, the MX5 handles amazingly already wouldnt need the AWD

nah, go old school, chuck the motor in a Datsun 1600 shell.

Its light, engine bay should be big enough, and they are a cool looking car lol.

I very much like the first option, seeing as there is a lot of talk in regards to an AWD MPS 3 this could open the door for the future.
I am also a fan of the Datsun ute but there has been so many of them done, very nicely I must say but i think it has been done, maybe not with an MZR 2.3 but none the less.

I have a workmate who has a 1200 ute for sale too. I considered it, but, as mentioned, 1200 ute drag cars have been done. I thought of fitting an RB26dett AWD into it. But, I want to keep it all Mazda.

1600 shells are few and far between. A good one will cost too much.

Fair call, I've just got a soft spot for them, owned one years ago. Should have never let it go.

awd and mps motor in an old RX2/RX3? Only drawback being finding one for cheap.

My idea was a previous model Mazda 2...(the shoebox)

Lowered with huge wheels and MPS3 Turbo and AWD setup in it.....

Now thats the best looking sleeper around....

I dont think you will find a Mazda3 MPS that will beat your shoebox....and easy sub 12 at willowbank.

I'd like to see the MPS engine in an MX5. You'd only need to add 6MPS front brakes and off the shelf suspension and you'd have the ultimate road car. So easy. I reckon you'd need to spend half a million dollars to find a production car that could out perform this combo.

I second the MX-5 project idea. If the truck beats you on the drag (it won't), challenge it to the track!
If I was doing it myself, I'd be shoving it in a re-engineered Datsun 240Z.
Or........no I think the old Z does it for me.

AWD mps 3 would open a door for u $$ all eyes would be on it first in australia.. show us what could have been if mazda done it. most other ideas have been done before or simular

a local version of the dg motorsports car would be good.

The mx5 thing has been done to death with rotary engines, turbo kits, supercharger kits, and lexus v8's (bullet roadster)

the ute is an odd one though... will it work?
