Mps6 loud grinding when put in gear and won’t go anywhere

I have a 2005 mps6 and when I put it in gear and let the clutch out it’s Making a really bad grinding noise and won’t go anywhere. It was driving fine and I took off and went for 2nd gear and it mad a noise and now it’s doing this!! Would it be the gearbox or transfer case?? Thanks in advance for any ideas anyone might have.
