It has been an eventful season for the TEKNO Autosports and the Darrell Lea STIX V8 supercar sponsored by XFORCE with round six at the Townsville 400 proving to be no different.

The weekend got off to a shaky start with vibration issues from the cars drivetrain in Friday’s second practice session, an unwelcome setback to the teams event program.

A quick fix and a new transaxle had the car back on track for Saturday morning’s final practice session ready for qualifying, however a slight miscommunication between the crew resulted in sets of tyres being mismatched, resulting in a rear of grid start for race 16.

Shane van Gisbergen managed to power through the race moving up 15 positions throughout the race to finish in 10th overall, a welcome boost of confidence for the whole team going into Sundays program.

Sunday Started of well, qualifying 6th and moving up to 3rd on starting grid in the Top Ten Shootout leading into race 17. A heated battle between Shane van Gisbergen and Garth Tander unfolded throughout the race, however Van Gisbergen dropped back into the pack during the final stages of the race.

The Townsville 400 was a test of patience and skill for TEKNO Autosports as they battled to put points on the board. The Darrell Lea STIX VF Commodore will next be on track at the Ipswich SuperSprint 31 – 2 August 2015.
