Car cut out while driving - now doesnt turn on

well on thursday afternoon, I was heading on the onramp to the city near buranda and the engine decided to just stop. I basically rolled to the side of the road to pull over - thankfully wasn't on the freeway yet.

tried to start the car, it would start briefly stutter then die again. RACQ couldn't figure out why, the car wasn't throwing any CEL codes, wasn't a bad batch of fuel as I had used 1/2 tank already.

currently with mazda and they haven't been able to find the problem yet.

any ideas? im lost, but stabbing in the dark that it might be a fueling issue, possibly fuel pump?

all it was, was a dirty afm
