You'd have to be caning it on a track to get those sorts of numbers. I suspect your trip computer. As suggested, recalculate independently of your fuel computer, using your odometer and recording fill-ups for a few fills. My total fuel consumption, mostly in crappy Perth traffic, is 12.2 l/100 km, over the past year. I'll easily do 9.2 l/100km on open road trip at speeds up to anything that local roads can sensibly stand in short passing bursts, and have seen it down to 8.5. 6th is a wonderful gear for economy!!

Well my average reading is definetly working... my current tank has been babied and i have never gone over 3500 in revs for the last week. And my reading is 13.7L/100km - km reading on this tank is 410km

No im not a leadfoot, and im not caning it anywhere. Most of my driving is to and from work in mornings which is not a long trips (5km each way) - and there is quite a bit of stopping/starting

What I did notice is that on heavy acceleration (last tank) that the average would actually jump up a point in one burst.

    Ahhhh. 5km trips.
There I think is your problem.
It's still probably in warm up mode. Very rich. Like driving around with the choke on.

Have you taken the car for a good long cruise and is it better?

Yeah I agree, maybe go for a bit of a cruise at least 20-30kms (and back). Reset your trip computer before you go and see what it averages out at...

some sensor may be out or on its way out, could be Air Flow sensor, O2 sensor or perhaps just needs a good service and tune.

I usually get just under the 500km mark on a full tank and I drive my 3 every day, plus I give it some too!!!

Have those checked out and also give it a good service, do the plugs while you're at it and also depending on kms do the fuel filters.

Same here brother , always average 10.5 +/- .5 litres (but thats 85% urban and 15% hwy)
