Excessive service cost at 120,000k service SP23

A mate has an SP23 and asked for a quote on the 120k service.

They replied that it would be $1,100.

Does this seem correct. Apparently this is a major service and includes changeing the platinum plugs, however I had my plugs changed in the MPS at the last service and it cost me $700 total.

that is a lot. I've jumped on this site occassionally to check service costs before I take it to the dealer, particularly with the VW as they have hgh costs on DSG servicing!!

You need to ask the Service dept for a breakdown of the costs. Yes it does sound like a hell of alot of $$ to me, but without knowing *why* they think they can charge that much, its pretty hard to call bullshit.

After I spent $700+ on my 250cc motorbike that seems reasonable! Nah, to be honest it does sound like a fair bit. Any idea of the condition of the clutch and brakes?

He has not yet taken the car to them, so it is simply a standard 120k service quote.

He has now called another dealer and got an $850 quote. Seems like his normal dealer is having a bit of a lend of him.
