    Default Intake manifold?

    Hey all,

What's the go with our intake manifold? Is it plastic? The reason for this question is I'm thinking about getting an after market one before I do I wanted to know if we can machine out our standard one ( clearly not going to happen if its plastic )

    Any info would be great.

    Thanks

    mps intake manifold is alloy.

It can be ported and machined with good results.

And spaced with a thermal inatke barrier type gasket to eliminate some heat transfer from the motor.

Is porting and removing vcts really worth all the work. I have TIGS to install and wondering. Anybody here done it? Any negative effects experienced?

I did read some where years back that dyno results showed no loss or that minimal it wasn't worth a mention. That's as far as modifications to the stock manifold that is.

Unless your porting and port matching to the cylinder head just deleting the tumblers and shafts would be recommended.

If you transition to the head ports nicely go for it!
