    thanks heaps

Glad to see the Mazda took #1 selling car in Australia for 2011.

First time since WW1 an import has taken this achievement and finally killed of the 15 year reign of the commodore.

Guess we won't be seeing that commodore ad anymore about top selling car in Oz

    Good info.

Does the performance model figures include SS, XR, Clubsport, F6, etc ?

I can't believe Renault sold more Megane 250's than Mazda sold MPS3's. Yet Mazda 3 (normal) is Australia's best selling car. Never understood why the comparatively poor MPS sales (look at Golf GTI and Impreza WRX as a benchmark they'd want to aim for).

Easy really. Megane is a better looking car with race heritage like the wrx.

Golf gti will always be a top seller as their base models suck and make you upgrade.

Base model 3 are cheaper and come with all the bells and whistles minus performance which most people are happy with.

The Megane doesn't really have any racing heritage like the WRX's WRC history. Its just a really fast hot-hatch. And this is Australia, where apart from people who know a thing or two about cars, its a Renault Megane... a what!? I should know, I've owned a RenaultSport Clio in the past and nobody ever knew what it was.

Nobody knows what a Mazda 3 MPS is.

Sure, it's got HUGE credentials in showroom class racing, goes like stink, has a brilliant feature packed interior, and handles brilliantly, but even I wasn't aware of the MPS racing success and brilliance as a performance vehicle until I actually looked it up, got intrigued and actually took one for a drive.

Marketing for the MPS is non-existent.

I agree ..marketing is totally non-existant. Can't remember the last time I saw an ad on TV for the MPS. The MPS wasn't even on my Radar until someone mentioned it to me to go and test drive ... and I was blown away
