Targa Tasmania starts tomorrow.
I thought this thread could be to track the event.
The factory Mazda team will have 3 cars completing this year.
A gen 2 MPS (with a better colour scheme than last year) driven by Brendan Reeves.
and 2 RX8 SP's driven by Jamie Vanderberg and Steve Glenney
The offical targa website is here

and Mazda's here

And Luke from Mazda explaining the event

heh, when will they bring the RX8 SP into production???![]()

When they win

First full day.
MPS3 first in Showroom in front of a skoda and a lot of Mazda MX5's.
RX8 SP - Steve Glenney is up there in third overall unformulately van der Berg appears to be down in 16th.

doing decently so far
love the output of the rx8 sp tho
215kw and 345NM, sounds like a good car
have a feeling it might be tuned for a better mid-range than top end tho... as all rotary dyno's i've seen with 300+NM have had ~240-250 kw

that one is a supercharger equiped RX8 just as a FYI
fudging a bit of numbers, if they are keeping the 9000rpm redline in the RX8, the car cant be making more than 230NM @ 9000rpm
the maximum rpm they can be making 345NM at (whilst keeping it at 215kw) is 6000 rpm
wonder if we ask nicely if they'll give us dyno graphs

Mazda does a good job with these but if anyone has Lukes number can you tell him to get out there on the road even it is a cross from him (in the studio) to himself (on the ground).![]()
