Thread: Loudest Intake??

  1. #1

    Default Loudest Intake??

Hey guys, im new to the MPS scene, so please forgive!

I had a focus xr5 turbo, i tuned it a and had a dreamscience intake, the induction noise, and blow off from the stock bpv was awesome, and quite loud

What i want in the MPS is the same, if not louder, call me a wanker and what not, but on a turbo car i love the noise of a turbo spooling, and some form of noise when changing gears.

So what intake should i fit?

Firstly you're going to need a new bpv, stocker is pretty quiet in terms of induction noise, i've only heard sri's, but they'll give you the noise you are after

And to ozmps, might have lost a cylinder, but you've gained so much more

The stock bov vta is pretty loud!
replace the whole intake to the turbo, sri should do the trick for you!

    Welcome!

I have the CP-e Xcel Nano.

It has very loud induction noise, and the factory BPV makes a loud PSHHHHHHHHHH noise.

Replace the turbo inlet pipe with an alloy one like the Corksport one, That and an Sri and you can hear it pretty good. Youll definately hear the BOV then too.
I had just the CP-E SRI on for a while, but when i put my inlet pipe back on it is way louder.

    Welcome

im after the same thing. The car is in waranty so don't want to tinker much, but am adddicted to even the wimpy factory noise when pulling hard up windy mountansides. want more
how much of a diference does the forge bpv make over the factory one?
and does putting an airbox (like the corksport one (or one by 2xs?)) over an SRI quiet it down much? I live in NSW so nead a box, but really want some nice intake noise.

    cheers

I have a Mazdaspeed CAI which I switch between CAI and SRI mode (by dropping the bottom part of the piping). Definitely louder in SRI mode.

The factory BPV sounds OK with an intake and works fine, I switched over to a Forge BPV (V1) which makes more noise (crossed swords and "flutter") mainly for the wank factor...and to surprise unsuspecting import Skyline drivers.

No vid. Mazdaspeed CAI, I don't even know if they still sell it. Forge BPV(V1), do a YouTube search on Mazdaspeed3 and Forge, something should turn up.

I am running the MZR SRI with the stock BPV and it sounds pretty decent, no idea about the sound outside of the car but inside you can hear the turbo spoolling up nicely.

Fitted the turbo inlet today. (Pain in the ass lol)

Intake noise is now different. (Not any louder, just different sound) BPV is not as noticeable at lower revs, can still hear it at high revs but sounds different to before.

Helped with turbo spool time. Power is up, but will wait and see what happens with the ecu first.
