With the Gen I when you unlock the car, if you havent opened the doors within 30 seconds the car will lock itself back.

Ditto with Gen II

Doesnt the manual say that walking within the detection zone unlocks the vehicle too?

I asked the dealer at the 1000k check to do this and was told that it was not possible, I left because I didnt have time, but will get it done at the 10000km. Its amazing how the customer these days knows more than the so called specialists.

will the auto locking feature work on a 2006 series 2 MPS 6? shut down, get out, walk away and autolock?

Really? wow.. Something for me to try out next time I unlock it. hehe. Any excuse to press buttons.
My loan car at the moment is an i30 which locks the doors once you reach 30km/h I think. Very odd, but useful for the guys in FNQ from the stories I heard.

That's the same for all cars built in South Africa. When we were over there for a holiday, we noticed this. It would auto lock as soon as you started to drive. It's an anti-car jacking feature, which happens a lot in South Africa.

Thanks for the replies guys I know this is a very old post but it's taken this long for the Mazda dealer to tell me it's not possible on my mps?????


For the guys that got this feature enabled do any of you have the 2009 mps? And which dealer enabled it for you?

The 2007 Neo i have locks within 30sec ( like 10-20secs) but the 2006 MPS is a lot slower more like 30secs
