Smile Steering rack & bushes !!!!!

My car went into Mazda today because of a knock in the front that Rino noticed when he was up here . A KLUNK while turning the steering wheel at close to or at stationary . End result mazda are putting a complete new steering rack in under waranty ,bushes gone . My concern is the Mazda mechanics felt that the car having been lowered with coil-overs could have caused the problem is that possible ??????
