EDIT: As my Sumitomo's are on thier way out, I'm in the market. I've added prices below from Tirerack.com and my tyre size of choice, 235/40ZR18.

Of interest to some maybe, a 2012 UK (subjective) review on 10 Max Performance Tyres.

2012 EVO Max Performance Tyre Test | the online tyre guide

    1st: Continental Sport Contact 3 (US$229 235/40ZR18) (For interest, the new ContiSportContact 5 225/40R18 is US$225)
    2nd: Hankook Ventus S1 evo (US$175 235/40ZR18)
    3rd: Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 (US$186 235/40R18 - They dont seem to supply ZR18...)
    4th: Michelin Pilot Sport 3 PS3 (US$262 235/40ZR18)
5th: Pirelli P Zero (Not the Rosso or Nero. US$272 235/40ZR18 Non Mercedes version ? )
6th: Bridgestone Potenza S001 (They dont seem to supply ZR18...)
7th: Dunlop SP Sport Maxx GT (US$269 235/40R18 They dont seem to supply 235/ZR18...)
8th: Vredestein Ultrac Cento Not on Tire Rack
    9th: Kumho Ecsta KU39 US$139 235/40R18
10th: Accelera PHI Not on Tire Rack

This link, to the same site, gives a extensive list of Max Summer Tyres.

If I could get CONTINENTAL SPORT CONTACT 3 or PIRELLI PZERO ROSSO for the same price around $1k, what you reckon?

Just get the Michelien Super Sports from Tirerack if your after street tyres, Continental already have a better tyre out then the Sport Contact 3 its called the 5P, new RS250 comes with them.

But the Super Sports are rated a better tyre then them.

Grip is too early to say just put them on seem a bit slippery, prob due to coating on tyre?. But damn there quiet .. First impressions are 225/40 are better illimating understeer over the 235/40. Will give update in a weeks time..

    Finally replaced these last week.

    Brand: Sumitomo
    Model: HTR Z III
    Price (fitted/unfitted): $249ea fitted
    Bought from: Jax Tyres Yeerongapilly
    Size: 235/40/ZR18 95Y
    Value /10: 7
    Performance /10: 7
    Treadwear: 300
Likes: Ride quality, lower noise than OEM. Less tram lining also b
    Dislikes: None
Mileage: Approx 32,000k's (probably should have changed them 5000 k's ago)

Overall: Cant fault them. Good Value, lasted almost twice that of OEM. Performed very well on wet braking at a recent Driver training day.

    Value /10: 10
Performance /10: Don't know...Have done much with them.
