Rooballer, I would definately go the 18x8 with the 235 tyres, your tyre options in that size are much much better and the wider stance on the car looks great, whats the offset on the ROH Mantis ?

    Michelin PP2's in 235/40/18 are only $250ish a tyre ... top value

The deal I am looking at is 18" x 8" with 235/40 Tyres, just want to make sure I am not missing any obvious potential problems.
I was told they wouldn't fit by the JAX tyre outlet, which was probably true with a +45 offset, however a week later I got my guards rolled, so I could have gone 18 x 8 if I wanted to in hindsight.

Some tyre manufacturers wont warrant 235's on anything less than an 8" wide rim....but i have Federal 595's 235/40/18 on a 7.5" wide rim (allowable per their web site). No rubbing or scraping with a set of Cobb springs fitted. Although it is fairly rare i have passengers in the back.

I must admit looking at them on the car, it seems a tight fit, going 8 inch width and 235 tyres on top of that would make me worry about rubbing once lowered. The mazda 6 guards aren't that generous. Having said that obviously we have members with the 8 inch width and 235 setup, but for me, it just seems tight, I'm happy with the 7.5 225\40 set up. Actually once these tyres are out, I will probably go 225\45.

    Hi All,

Due to me getting a company car in the very near future, we have decided to get rid of the girlfriends SP23. This means she will be driving the MPS on a daily basis.

Those of you who know my car, will know that the 20's with 225/30/20 are not really very forgiving. My girlfriend was always paranoid that she would break something by hitting a pothole or something.

Anyway, to the point of the story - I've bought some 18's and will be selling the 20's.
