    Default Brakes Brakes Brakes

    Hi guys,

Been told at my last mazda service the Brakes are on their way out (5000kms left). I'm looking for an aftermarket option since Mazda quoted me more than $1000 dollars for the genuine replacement.

I don't track my MPS3 and drive my baby with moderate gusto. I'm looking for a similar feel to stock but with less dust with no noise.

Looking through the forums here - I've narrowed my options for rotors to DBA 4000 T3 (because I like the look although they are a bit over the top for street) and for pads - either remsas or hawk ceramics.

I'm looking for any further opinions regards to the choices above before I make the order. Thanks in advance.

    Check out the brake thread

I replaced my rotors and pads, all
4 for less than 2 front OEM rotors

    2x T3 front rotors
    2x T2 rear rotors
    4x Remsa pads

Didn't get a quote, but Justan will be happy to install then for you

If you dont track it, consider the rotors from rda, I believe they are slotted and half the price...

Thanks @slixx - I did check out the brake thread. Just following up after a few months down the track to see if opinions still remained the same. Any reason you chose the T3s Pete? I know you don't track your car. How's the feel?

    They're great.

The are great and still have great feel
The Remsa pads were a bit squealy for the first 500kms and then a bit dusty for the next 1000kms, but both went away after that

I guess I went for the T3s coz of the look. That's about it

I put T2s on the rear as they aren't really used as much as the fronts and you can't tell the diff visually

    @mech81 you after my opinion?
Im a bit like @slixx, been running T3 fronts but with Hawk HPS pads..
Cant fault this combo, and after many a night of abuse, they still holding up well with minimal dust!

I got the T3s from GSL and the Hawks from Corksport..

Let us know which path you take!

Yes Andrew - was after your opinion. Any squealing issues with your hawk HPS pads? @MPSed

I was pleasantly suprised with the dustless nature of the HPS pads, and i can confirm that they do not lead a very comfortable life with me hammering them regularly.
Dennis, i have had no squealing from this set of pads. I can advise that you must bed them in properly and you should have a comfy life with them, should you hose to go down this path.
Some ppl say the initial bite is a tiny bit less than OEM, but after 2-3 pedal presses in the morn and they heat up, they are good as gold!
I for one cannot say i noticed that with my set up.

Feel free to hit me up if i missed anything @mech81

Yup I had the same pedal feel with the Remsa's

The first initial feel wasn't as grabby, but this improved in the next 2-300kms

Same as @MPSed, first 2-3 "brakes" is all that is needed to getting working well
