Thread: Custom Cold Air Box

    Default Custom Cold Air Box

    Hi Guys and Girls,

Thought I would share last weekends project. Had an idea to getting cold air straight into the air box which I haven't seen anyone do yet. Couldn't bring myself to cut up the COBB Air Box so started from scratch and made my own. Cobb box is in the for sale section. Made all of this out of 1mm Aluminium Sheet.

Photos below let me know what you think.

This is the path I wanted to direct the cold air through. I removed the perfectly positioned small rectangle panel on the plastic radiator shroud which makes this cold air induction path seem like it was meant to be.

Painted the Aluminum the same red to match the rest of my engine bay, used some window seal from bunnings and rubber moldings to seal the box closed and against the relay box etc..

    And the finished product

Sorry @TRBLSM it's a full weekends work so price would be ridiculous haha.

I made a brake @GibbA but being thin metal it's easy to bend by hand in a vice with soft jaws.

Thanks for the comments guys, its supported by the Cobb Sri bracket, and I have plenty of material left over if anyone local wants some. Gonna make a heat shield to replace the tin foil between turbo and firewall tomorrow

I have been thinking of doing something similar. Bunnings has 0.5mm al sheet. Where did you get the 1mm sheet please?

    Guessing you've gone fmic?
Just that it looks like that box would block the ducting that is there normally.

    But looks damn good!

Guess, been front mount since last August. Yeah it blocks it completely, I used the ductings mounting point and the same push clips.
