I've been thinking more on this, the only car I ever had that did this was cured by new plugs and leads, but it was nowhere near as complex a beast as the MPS.
Bet you it's frustrating the crap out of you! It's frustrating me that I can't figure it out!![]()

You haven't done something as simple as wash the engine bay recently and gotten water down the plug valley?
Vaccum leak, Fuel Pump, spark plugs are what come to mind, Im assuming this wont happen at wide open throttle?

Hey mate, Our MPS 6 has similar issues, especially when the aircon is on(most of the time that is) feels like a flutter. At first I thought it were a boost issue, then I thought turbo, fuel filter, pump, plugs leads etc etc. Now I am not going to stereotype the dealer "TECHNICIANS" but they are now just that TECHNICIANS, not alot of real mechanics these days,,There are some, dont get me wrong. anyways, the reason you will be getting told that "they all doit" is because in their book of things a similar phenomenom is a trait of the mazda direct injection. anyways My thoughts aer it is to do with manifold design and at those ervs the vaccuum and pressure constants arent tuned verywell.. sorry I cant explain myself a bit better, I is not too goodly wif spelin and words and stuff... hope this helps.
