Dealer service or not?

So my MPS6 will be up for it's 130k service in a couple of months,
now i haven't had the car serviced by Mazda since the 70k service,
the main reason was my car was under warranty and has a SRI and
Chiptorque flash tune in it.
I figure they would always plug in the diagnostics and wipe the tune, anyway
in the last few months a few driveline/brake noises have started to creep in
so i was thinking of going back to Mazda for the service figuring they would know
So is it worthwhile and how do you get your car serviced without touching the tune?

Hence the reason I got Allstar Tuning to do all my work, they know the car better than any Mazda Mechanic, considering they know the Mazda cars, they also know the little issues that arise on the track and look at your car when they work on it and work in with the Grand Prix Motorsport crew ( Graeme ), these guys can do things with their eyes closed.I didn't have any issues with any warranty issues and in saying that I really had none maybe due to the Allstar boys servicing the car and know what to look for hopefully that will answer your question Todd . The new car in the new year will have more power than my 1st one and it will be ordered like the first one with the work done before I take delivery again.

I like my car to be looked after by professionals and not apprentices, I have nothing against apprentices they need to learn from some where and the fact I pay less than at the dealership and I know my car is been looked at with real knowledge..

tell them "dont you dare re-flash/update my ecu"
make sure they write it down on the work order, and if it does happen, then you can get them to pay for it
a mazda dealer is only as good as the people working there.. find a good one and your car will be looked after

As for telling Mazda not to touch my ECU i did think about that but thought that would give them
more incentive to do it

If going to Mazda note that they're not to plug in to M-MDS and get it written on the service order and they'll usually obey it. If out of warranty it's worth actually telling them you're flash tuned, they generally understand and won't plug in to M-MDS or screw with your mods.

I had my last service done by grajy (Jon) on here when he still lived in Qld, but I took my car to a Mazda dealer to get a coolant flush and they took the opportunity to tighten all the appropriate chassis and suspension bolts without me asking for it to be done (was just the initiative of the tech), the car definitely felt better for it.

Finding specialists who actually know our cars is bl00dy difficult...sometimes the dealer techs are alright, purely due to the volume of MPS and basic models that they see, they learn what to look for pretty quickly in some parts of the car.

I have a 2011 MPS3 & i will be going to Allstar Tuning as soon as they have the new Mazda Reflash. Im under the impression that it wont matter what mazda do during their service because as soon as you drive out of mazda, you can press a button that will take you back to the tune Allstar Tuning had done.

I actually spoke to a straight up guy "Off the record" from Mazda servicing & he said they plug into the MMDS everytime theres a service on an MPS and "YES" they can tell when the ECU has been tampered with, even by flashing back to original ECU settings. He also stated that once Mazda would find out, they would most likely blame everything that goes wrong mechanically on the Dyno Tuning. Stuff that! Looks like i'll have to wait for another 4 years ��

Talk to Richard at Allstar about this, my car was tuned with new exhaust before I took delivery from new, I won't say anymore on here......PM me if you wish....

You do how you please, I had the 1st 2 services done by Mazda and after that Allstar did my services ever 5000 k's up to 67,000k's before I got rid of it and I will do the same in the new year when I get the new one with more work than I had done to my 1st one. When you talk to Richard mention me ( Rino....Hmmm Reno is to pronounce ) and throw the question at him.

Yeah i'm not too worried about warranty (car is 6 years old and i've owned it for 4 years)
just don't want the hassle of losing the tune, i know Chiptorque have it saved on file,
the reason i was thinking of going back to Mazda was the diff whine and checking the
chassis bolts for the correct tightness.
