the Bel STi XR is undectable and so is the the Escort Redline Pro A, check this out if you haven't already
Radar Detectors Australia - Beltronics, Bel STi XR, Bel-R PLUS, Escort Redline, Escort 9500ci, Valentine One, Cobra, Whistler

Cant remember which one, but one of those 2 aren't "illegal" due to it falling under a "parking sensor" unit because it has a function in it. I did a lot of research on these a while ago

I 2nd that BEL make the best detectors. Owned several and they all did a great job. Worth spending the money for something with a good name (i.e. Bel)
Had them sitting/hanging off the windscreen with suction cups in direct sunlight on country trips with no problems at all.

Dont want to scare you but I hope you had a friend send it over and it wasnt marked Radar Detector?

Customs will get you. Happened to a few people i know doing the same thing. They either stop it as it comes through or will come to your house and ask for you to hand it over. Im not making this up, it has happened.

Better to buy local or take a trip to WA and buy one. Or go to the states and im sure you can work the rest out yourself.

    Just a heads up

Hey guys, this isn't for me. I bought it for a mate in WA. I wouldn't do anything that was illegal!

There is not much point in getting a detector that is only Multanova (radar) specific, as the main centres in Oz have switched over largely to Poliscans and other laser devices. The Multanovas have been sent out to the regional centres where they continue to be a source of irritation to decent people. Now with the longer range Poliscans in Perth (which can shoot you either way), even the laser alerting capability on the more sophisticated detector models often simply tell you about the laser that has already just zapped you, and most folks won't get an alert on the camera that took a rear shot, unless they have a rear-facing detector. The parking sensor type of "jammers" will not jam Poliscans, although some will confound hand-helds. If you want the best electronic countermeasures, be prepared to pay for them, around $3-4K.

I have a beltronics STI , it picks up those new white vans parked on the side of the road, and speed cameras so far, but not the fixed ones.

Strange. The new vans are using Poliscans so if you are picking up vans you should get the fixed ones on the road which are also Poliscans. I haven't seen Multanovas around for quite a while in the city. There are a few in rural areas. The Beltronics are a good unit.
