Talking Versatuner on Gen 2 Experience

I have pulled the trigger and placed my order for the Versatune package. I have dealt with Steve so far and it has been a breeze.

I will use this thread to tell you all about my experience with both Versatune as a company and as a tuning package, ie, I will be the Genpu guinea pig. I have had a good look at all that this software has to offer and I think it should be a blast working with it.

With our upcoming Dyno day here in Queensland it will be a good proving ground for it as well. It would be interesting to see what it brings to the table. I will do some standard logs as well as E10(95) and 98 just to compare all of what the OTS tunes has to offer. I am not sure if anybody has taken the time before to do this but either way, I will see how the Versatuner software handles our fuel.

Feel free to ask questions or make comments as I go.

I am expecting my delivery before next weekend so then I will get cracking!
    Cheers

Just a quick update. I have received my software as a download link almost immediately after my purchase. I have downloaded and installed on the laptop and started looking at the OTS maps, there are not a lot of maps available but it covers the basics which is all that I require at this stage.

I have also received my tracking number for the Versalink and should have it by Monday. I am doing a lot of reading at this stage to make sure that I am on top of the DISI motor before I start.

I will post again here next week with the first of my E10 logs.
    Cheers

    my notes:

    Tuning information from MSF:

    VVT tuning:

not worth it really for k04; for GT30’s etc, worth it... helps reduce spool time

    WGDC:

this is pretty much what controls boost...

    Ignition timing:

Ignition Timing and General Tuning - Mazdaspeed Forums

more = better... but not so much as you get KR...

should be able to get high teen’s

Timing is highly dependent on BAT's, so if you're getting some high temps, you may not be able to run as much...

Once you have solid AFR's and boost (or load) curves, you just start adding timing little by little. I typically add .5-1° per revision

Once you start to get some kr around 2° or so, throw in some octane booster (lucas brand is my fave) and see if it goes away. If it goes away, you have probably reached the timing limit and you can back off the curve by ~1° and call it a day

I tend to see 1-2° steps between rpm breakpoints for wot tuning. My curve, above, is an example of this above 4k rpm.

In the upper RPMs with the stock EBCS there is very little difference in actual boost between 80-100% duty cycle.

    this as well:
Dano's Boost Tuning 101 + Cool Stuff - Mazdaspeed Forums

it's all in ATR/COBB speak, but hopefully it'll give you an idea...
also, even in open loop then gen 2 will alter fueling a little bit (~5-6%) to ensure you hit correct AFR's... gen 1 and 6's dont do that

Ok so I got everything and I am good to go. The Versalink is installed on the laptop and so is the Versatune software. Got to the car only to be stopped in my tracks........"Your vehicle is not supported:L3CF"......Disappointing but expected in a way seeing as mine is the first over here to get the Versa treatment.

I emailed the boys at Versatune this morning so I will see what they come back with. I have been dealing with @Steve VersaTune from the start and he has been very keen to get going and very helpful so far.

Will update with their suggestions soon.

Wow...these guys don't waste any time! I got an email back to say that they have cracked it and I can download the software again, obviously I had to uninstall the previous version first and it works like a charm. It is a breeze to install and it took all of about 7 minutes. I have not flashed in any maps yet as I will do some logs on E10 and 98 before I change the tune.

I will post these logs and some VD charts to show you guys the progress.

I did a quick idle log just to gauge the log speed on a few important parameters and it looks good. Unfortunately I have to work as well so I will do some logs this afternoon.

Thanks to @Steve VersaTune for the ultra fast response, I am impressed! Please thank Ugnius for me as well.

    Let the journey begin..............

All right, attached is my first two runs on E10. These are on the STOCK map. I am having difficulty getting it to show the afr's and boost...............any help would be appreciated.

I had 0.0 KR on the first run and a max of 0.38 KR on the second run. Remember that this is on E10 that everybody is so scared of. I have flashed in the first tune, for 95, and will do a couple of runs tomorrow. The car pulls very good down low with the tune, I can't wait to start winding the wick!

Let me know what you guys think..........

Yeah I had AFR, absolute manifold pressure, timing, ect ect. With EvoScan it picked it up automatically but not with VT. I even tried changing the column titles, no luck.

Do you know how to insert the csv file then you can see all the parameters?
