Are you aware of any locking diffs that fit the MPS? The Quaife is good but can still free wheel which isn't ideal for racing. I haven't heard of any other options out there for our cars. Are they the only one available for our cars?

Let me say from personal experience - that the quaife will make your car go just as fast as a locking differential. The thing you need to understand, is that the quaife is not a LSD, limited Slip differential. It is an ATB - Auto Torque Bias system.

What this means is if the quaife picks up wheel spin on one wheel, it transfers the power / torque to the wheel that is not spinning. This means you keep driiving .

With an LSd, it essentially locks both wheels, this means for example, going around the corner, that you have one wheel spinning, consuming power / torque and doing nothing other than screeching on the road whilst the other wheel is still driving the vheicle.

My FWD Twin turbo Magna - 530hp at the front wheels, had a cusco unit. I had massive over steer with a cusco and clunked, grinded and generally drove me insane. I managed a 11.99 down the quarter mile with it.

I moved to the quaife, did the same times at the race track, but no more over steer as well as I found I didn't fight the car as much and the inside tyres did not wear as much. On the drag strip I hit a new personal best of 11.50 @ 125mph (with some more tuning) with no wheel slip issues.

The point being that beleive me, having had both, I can garauntee short of a rally car where your off the ground, the quaife is hte number 1 choice of differentials by any circuit racer. You honestly won't be disapointed and your times and handling will improve.

** I also found on my FWD car the Quaife helped to REDUCE torque steer.

God damn that's the most compelling argument i've heard yet for getting one. Lighting up my inside tyre coming out of tight corners has been a bane of my existence for some time at the track. Maybe get it done about April. I need to quantify my new brakes and tyres at the track before taking the next modding step and adding it to the pool of general knowlege.

You might also consider doing a clutch / flywheel replacement or upgrade when you do the diff swap, saves the expensive labour of pulling the car to bits again in the future, just for a clutch replacement.

Hmmm yea, it might make more sense to get it done when I need to replace my clutch then......

I might take up drag racing to being about that need earlier.

    Hey Peeps..

its $1200 delivered either of eBay, quaife directly etc.
Im definitely thinking of getting one, I mean whats the point of power upgrades I dont want to pay top dollar so i can wheel spin and torque steer more than i do now.. so it makes sense.. i was just about to buy it wheeeeeeeeen i stumbled on this from the states.. its had some great reviews from mazdaspeed 3 owners.. and its much less.

MFactory Competition Products - Forged Transmission Components - $750 delivered

I have been quoted, 1000 dollars install from two different places one at rockdale and one at preston. (both diff specialists)

Additionally I was told that as part of the $1000 labour it would include changing clutch and flywheel if i needed it done.

Let me know if anyone has heard negative reviews about either Quaife or MFactory.. but yeah i couldn't find anything..

    Hello All,
I have the experience of driving a 2012 MPS with Quaife installed. Torque steer gone. Front wheels stuck like glue to the road around corners and bends. It is worth the price. As the famous line goes, what is all the power without control.

    Cheers
