Hi guys,
I tried washing my wheels off brake dust using Meg's Non Acid Wheel Cleaner and following the instruction what i got was 75% of the dust still clinging on the wheel. Is this cleaner meant for the stock Gen1 MPS3 wheels?
What sort of wheel cleaners do you guys use? Once I get them clean i'm gonna get Prima wheel armour to make an easier job of cleaning them the next time.
Thanks guys

Hey Mech
Did you also use a brush when cleaning? This product is pretty mild so will need some agitation to remove the brake dust.
Also, with the Wheel Armour, I found the easiest way to clean your wheels is when they are dry. You'll notice that any dust that has appeared just wipes off as it hasn't bonded with the surface. But as soon as you add water this dust turns to like glue and needs more effort to remove.

Prima wheel armour on my stock rims was awesome! Not so good on the painted ones![]()
Try a stonger wheel cleaner ... Like P21s ...Chemical guys one is good IMO and also Final inspections is good to!.... But dont use wheel cleaner when you put the wheel armour on as it will stip it all off...learnt thatthe hard way![]()

I always clean mine off by hand with a dry towel

Hey Lynchy
That's interesting that you had different results on different wheels. Not sure why that would be. Maybe different driving conditions and/or weather? Or maybe for some reason it just wasn't bonding properly.
Ah and yes. No wheel cleaner on the wheel sealant! Lots of people make that mistake!

I use Meg's Non Acid Wheel Cleaner, but I've found it fine for the brake dust. However I follow a few sprays of that with a damp jumbo sponge in a bucket and comes out tops. I also only ever clean the wheels when they are cool, that is before I have driven the car anywhere. However I'm sure there are easier ways to clean the brake dust off.

I used that the other day, it was rubbish.
I generally use the kittens wheel cleaner, probably pretty harsh stuff but it does the job very very well. Only have to scrub in EXTREME circumstances, and this is coming from someone who is regularly driving on dirt roads etc.

One thing to remember is this product is a non-acid wheel cleaner. It has it's market for raw metal surfaces that these other wheel cleaners can't be used on. So for these types of surfaces it isn't rubbish.
You will have better results with these other products if you want a simple spray on product. Even the other Megs wheel cleaners would have been a better selection.

I use Armor All wheel cleaner. Spray on, leave a few minutes, and hose off with high pressure [gurney]

So ZAS, this non-acid is not the appropriate well cleaner for the stock Gen 1 MPS3 wheels? Is it because it has a clear coat? Anyway, I'm thinking of getting a few things from you and definitely it will be the wheel armour and cleaner. All this will have to happen in the new year though
