Well, they fixed the issues, as some of you may have read on some other posts.

Turned out to be a faulty wastegate solenoid. Amazing to think that such a small component was causing me so much grief for over 6 months. In the time they had the car, they replaced plugs, coils, leads, injectors, fuel pumps, o2 sensors, EGR solenoid and turbo before discovering the faulty wastegate solenoid.

So I now have a car that runs like an absolute charm (it's never felt so good LOL, the new turbo has an improved mid-range urge that the car has never had before) and had a heap of replaced parts. Sat nav screen is fixed (they just hadn't connected it properly when they took it apart last time), and all is good in the Swallowtail MPS6 world.

Well, the car went back to the dealer for a day.

In that day, they fixed a missing firewall grommet (noise in the cabin) that they stuffed up the previous time, decided that it needs yet another sat nav screen (now arguments between Mazda and VDO Dayton as to who is going to pay for that), and fixed up a clonk in the front steering.

BUT they did not fix the hesitation. Apparently they tried plugs and coils. No difference. BUT they also said they tried driving 3 others, and they couldn't tell the difference. In other words, they are saying the car is normal. WTF?!?!?! Anyone else see the stupidity in that statement? The car is normal, but changing plugs and coils didn't improve it??

So one cranky email to the service manager later, with (to his credit) an instant phone call back.

Next step is that the QLD Mazda service representative is getting booked in for a drive of the car with me and the service manager later in the month.

Next step beyond that I suspect will be selling the car LOL.

The car has been running like a sick dog again recently. So I took it back to the dealer, and took one of the techos for a ride. Murphy's law was good to me, and I managed to reproduce some of the horrible hesitation that it has been doing.

It's now going back in to them for a couple of days from Monday to see if they can resolve it. The guy thought it felt like plugs / coil weakness. It's worse in wet weather...

And the car looooooks great. Been nicely cleaned inside and out too.

So I'm a lot happier than I was on the weekend! :) Although would have been nice it it hadn't all needed doing! Ah well, such is life.

Edit: BONUS! Just discovered that the new stereo that they have fitted cos they damaged the faceplate of the original is a new MP3 compatible one... which the old one was not. :D

Well after waiting since before Xmas for parts to arrive for warranty issues found during the 30000km service, the car went in last week. Three days it was in there, and I ran around in a little blue Mazda2... not a bad car actually. Bit slow though... :D

Picked it up Saturday morning, all the issues seem to be sorted. Except there are now 4 new issues - worst being an exhaust leak in the engine bay that vents poisonous fumes into the passenger cabin. Also careless damage inside the car, and a broken alarm. One Sunday evening email to the Service Manager followed, and the car was picked up from my home Monday evening (and replaced temporarily with another Mazda2). So hopefully it will be back home again soon, with ALL the issues resolved this time!

Well, haven't posted much here! Been very busy over the hols.

The good news first:

The hesitation and stuttering during off-boost loaded but moderate acceleration has gone away over the holidays. Whether it was because I did a few hours towing 600kg of trailer and it's changed fuel trims I don't know. The car feels good at the moment, I'm enjoying it.

The bad news:

It still occasionally misfires. It's rare, but if it's going to it does it during steadily increasing throttle application from off-boost thru to flat out. Eg, a 3rd gear corner, pull out of it gently off boost, then gradually increase the throttle, accelerating up thru boost, then as it starts to pull hard it occasionally does a full 'miss', a real jerk, then continues to run fine.

In for a pile of warranty work next week, including replacing an O2 sensor and an engine mount.

Hopefully they'll clean it too, cos it's filthy!

Hey guys I thought I would contribute here. . .

Some pic's of when I found my new wheels. I was in the car yard one day having a look at the Mazda 3's thinking it would be a smart Idea to trade the VT S-pac I'd been driving for the last 9 years to something smaller. . . . then i spotted the MPS 6 !!!

I had to go back inside and ask teh dealer who owned the 6 sitting in the drive way, thinking that it was a normal 6 that belong to one of the boys in the shop. He told me "Nar mate that's how it comes" I couldnt believe it I was in love!!! "How much?" "58 grand" he replied! my dream was shatted as I realise there was no way I could afford one of these wicked machines!

I kept my eye out an almost 12 months later I found a Kia dealer that was selling one second hand right colour right price !! I could believe my luck !! Needless to say I had a deposit down by EOB that day and picked it up the following week. When I first got to drive it, it slamed me back into the bucket leather seat and my smile began to grow bigger and BIGGER!!! talk about Zoom Zoom !!! wow !! now Ive had it a little while I'm staring to miss the oiginal rush of handling this beasty. . . so now saving mao to get a couple of little mods to pump it up a little, however this car still gets my heart beating at 140bpm when I ask it to get up an go so to speak.!!

Too be continued . . . .

OK So I've had my MPS about 6 months and it still impressess me !!! So I decided my first mod was going to be CAI so i looked around and decided that I was going to run with a AEM Cold air induction kit . . . found one on ebay and got it shipped out from the states. I waited for about a week before it turned up and came home one night to fit it sitting on the back porch ! Sweet!

So the next night when i got home i went out to a mates place and we got to work getting all the stock air box out. . . in the dark with a torch! and some tools (lol)

So took us a little longer, . . .

I finally got all the screws out (anyone that has done this with their car jacked up halfway in the dark, dirt, and torch will now how pain full this job is without removing the bummper) anyway we got it installed no problems.

I took the car out for a test . . . .WoOOOSSSHHHHHH! nice! that's new but I cant feel the boost? The CAI had somoothed out the power so much i thought some how i had messed it up? Then my mate say's too me "there is nothing wrong drive it like you stole it man". . . . .

lets just say there was Nothing wrong with the boost. . . . .($h!t) again immpressed by this car!!

So I was happy with the indction great sound nice mild affect . . .

3 Months later I decided it was time for some rims. . and lower suspention . .. got a good deall on GMAX Enigma 18"x7.5" Kings Super Lows (Springs) heres what it looks like now!

he journey begins with the purchase of a new MPS6 in December 2006...

Before this car I had a Pulsar SSS- great car that i treated like absolute crap and it just would not stop...I even went 35,000km without a service and it was still running pretty good...

When I started looking at cars, I first started looking at an imported EVO 7, but it was just to basic (I had had regular access to an EVO 6 at this time so knew what they were like performance wise)- great for performance but I needed a bit of class as I was taking customers out in my car...

I then looked at the Honda Accord Euro, the Liberty GT Spec B and the Mazda 6MPS. All of these cars had good and bad points- the Honda did not have enough power and I favored AWD. The Subi just did not do it for me- brakes were crap, power felt down...the MPS just felt spot on- everything just seemed to fit for me and th price was much better then the Subi. So the decission was made- I was getting the MPS6 and the journey had begun...

At this point in time I had just discovered Final Inspection, but had not used any high end detailing products (boy was that to change!).

Here is a pic after 3 coats of Zaino 2pro and three coats of P21s...
