Wow.
That was my first thought, along with the “Joker Type Grin” as I entered the M1 on-ramp at Springwood.
Today, 9 April 2011, I spent the day with 2XS at his workshop to install a Twin Dump Pipe to my MPS3. I wasn’t sure if this modification would yield the results that others have experienced. I had driven another GenII with an SRI and Twin DP and it felt amazingly like my GenII, without the Dump Pipe, hence my original hesitation. That all changed, after speaking with Troy, “if you’re car feels similar to that now, wait till you get a Twin DP installed!”
So at 2pm today, Troy commenced to remove bit and pieces off my MPS to remove the stock (and very restrictive) dump pipe. You can see from the images below, it looks like a mangled mess of metal. Not once was I ever concerned with anything Troy was doing.
I could certainly go on about the process and procedure of what occurred, detailing the removal of every bolt and nut, but I’ll get to the point…
Sound:
Whist its only the first bit of the exhaust off the back of the turbo, I wasn’t expecting any major changes to the note – perhaps a subtle change. Well, at idle, it now has a deeper pitch to it, and at 3,000rpm and above, that sweet gurgle of a DISI Turbo – almost has a WRX gurgle to it – awesome…!
Power & Torque:
This was evident upon taking off from Troy’s workshop. It effortlessly got up to speed, and more fun was had when entering the M1 to head home. 2nd gear, flat foot, you could tell that there has been some serious gains. The pull to get up to speed was sensational, and you could not wipe the smile off my face. I can safely say that this has increased power & torque over previous.
By having this installed today, its meant that the car will be ready for the ChipTorque Dyno Day, where hopefully will show an increase over my previous run.
So if the inner child in you wants to have more fun with your MPS, have a chat to 2XS (Troy) about a Twin DP. This is a Australian Built product, local (Brisbane), with the knowledge & understanding of our cars as a bonus. It’s also a alternate to others on the market, and happy to report, CEL FREE (which can’t be said for the other alternate products out there).

Heh just wait until you get it tuned, the DP livens it up a little bit. A tune completely transforms the drive.

Sounds great Danski. Congrats
What sized Cat did you go with?

Yay, Dans got a DP!!! Nice work mate. I knew you'd love it. Especially yours being a freak and all, will be very interesting at Chiptorque next week.
I'm assuming that's the O2 sensor after the cat. CEL mitigation, Troy will be doing the same for me next Monday.
